EFO error in Electrolux washing machine
If the “home assistant” notifies you of a malfunction by displaying an error code on the display, you need to look not only at the designation of the malfunction, but also at its “symptoms”. A combined analysis of the results of the self-diagnosis system and the behavior of the washing machine will give a complete picture of the weak point of the automatic machine. The EFO error on an Electrolux washing machine can appear in several cases. What should you do if your equipment shows you this abbreviation?
Let's start with the obvious problems
If the washing machine issues an EFO code, the first step is to eliminate obvious causes of the error. They can be assessed with the naked eye. Perhaps we are talking about excessive foaming in the washing machine drum. Make sure that you put automatic washing powder in the tray and not manual detergent.
Modern Electrolux technology is very sensitive to the level of foam, and it is increased foaming that can cause an error.
If the fault code is displayed very often, but still not with every wash, it may be the issue with the amount of detergent. Try to load exactly as much powder into the tray as is recommended by the standards. The washing machine may react sharply to an overdose of detergents and show an error on the display EFO. It is also a good idea to thoroughly rinse the washing machine dispenser.
Cleaning the drain system
If the problem is not an overdose or confusion of washing powder, you will have to check the drain system. The malfunction code may be a consequence of a clogged debris filter, accumulation of dirt and deposits in the scroll, on the impeller or in drain pump.
Perhaps the solution to the problem will be to clean the drain filter. The element is located at the bottom of the washing machine, behind a special door or false panel. Having gained access to the filter element, you should grab its cover and scroll it from right to left. Before starting repairs, it is recommended to cover the floor with a cloth.
If the garbage filter was cleaned extremely rarely or not at all, then you may not be able to unscrew the lid the first time. When the lid moves slowly, it is important to control the forces to avoid breaking the part. If the filter fits like a glove and you can’t pull it out of the housing, try getting to it from the drain pump.
If plaque has formed on the thread, or it has become “stuck”, the filter may not be unscrewed even from the pump side. It will be easier to remove the element from the Electrolux washing machine along with the snail, and then, in a more convenient position, using household tools, carefully remove the filter or pull it out by force. When removing the element, the water remaining in the drainage system will flow out of the hole. The next repair steps will be to clean the filter element and its seat from debris and dirt deposits.
The situation can also be corrected by cleaning the drain hose, in the cavity of which a blockage sometimes forms.
Check the condition of the sewer pipe; perhaps the washing machine is reacting specifically to a clogged drainage network. However, the likelihood that the problem is in engineering communications is close to zero.
Problems with the water control system
Some modern Electrolux washing machines are equipped with the Aquastop system, which protects the equipment from emergency leaks. In this case, the automatic machine is equipped with a special tray with a built-in sensor that measures the level of water accumulated in the container. If there is a pan, it will be more difficult to gain access to the drain pump through the bottom of the unit; you will have to remove the bottom of the SMA.
The EFO fault code usually indicates minor damage that you can fix yourself without the help of professionals.
When the sensor gets stuck or water accumulates in the pan, the intelligence sometimes shows an EFO error. Therefore, it is worth looking into the pan, checking whether there is liquid in it, and what condition the sensor is in. When filling the pan with water, you should turn off the machine from the network, close the fill valve and proceed to search for the leak. If the pan is empty, check if the sensor is working. If damage is detected, install a new control element.
