Error E34 in an Electrolux washing machine
It’s annoying when, on the eve of the next wash, an Electrolux brand automatic machine displays fault code E34 on the display. The equipment, of course, stops functioning and does not respond to any user commands. Let's figure out what to do if error E34 appears on an Electrolux washing machine, how difficult the upcoming repair will be, and how to fix the problem.
Reasons for the error?
It is not by chance that the washing machine produces an error. The self-diagnosis system, after identifying shortcomings in the operation of the unit, immediately informs the user about it. Fault code E34 may indicate problems with the pressure switch, power surges, as well as current leakage from the heating element to the machine body.
Problems with the level sensor may consist of an incorrectly transmitted signal that goes beyond the standard operating parameters. The machine also displays a code if the pressure switch cannot calibrate the water level in the tank. This symbol can also be seen on the display if there is an excessive amount of water in the system, in which case there is a discrepancy between the signals of the analog and protective level sensor. The reason may be quite trivial - a clogged pressure switch tube, but in any case the part will have to be checked very carefully.
Often, an E34 malfunction is provoked by power surges in the network, a minor electronics failure, which is eliminated by rebooting the equipment. Very rarely, the code appears when there is a current leak from the heater.However, problems with the heating element are usually indicated by other errors, so there is no need to check the element first; it is recommended to start with the pressure switch.
Testing the water level sensor
What to do if you notice error E34? Check the pressure switch. The sensor is located directly under the top cover of the unit housing. It is a round part to which a tube and power wiring are connected. The solution to the problem can be a simple cleaning or adjustment of the pressure switch. You should carry out the actions carefully, following the following instructions:
- turn off the power to the washing machine;
- disconnect the equipment from communications;
- remove the top cover of the case, find the sensor;
- remove the pressure switch by unscrewing the screws holding it and disconnecting the wiring;
- locate the screws provided to tighten and loosen the internal contacts of the sensor;
- remove silicone sealant from the screws;
- clean the tube leading to the device, as well as its chamber.
After cleaning the level sensor, try starting the machine again. If the situation cannot be corrected, test the device with a multimeter. You can try to adjust the sensor yourself. You will have to catch the moment of contacts approaching and opening. You will have to look for the moment of closure at random: trying and double-checking. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:
- turn the first screw 180 degrees, install the pressure switch in place and start the automatic machine;
- in a situation where at first there was little water, but now there is more, the repair path was chosen correctly. Unscrew the bolt in the same direction and treat the area with sealant;
- if the opposite effect is achieved, remove the sensor and turn the screw in the other direction by 1 or 1.5 turns.
The main goal when adjusting the device is to select the optimal values at which the pressure switch will work correctly, with the required amount of water in the tank.
It is important not to forget to treat the bolts after scrolling them to the working position with sealant. This will prevent loosening of the fasteners during further operation of the equipment. If fix the pressure switch The Electrolux washing machine does not work, try installing a new, working sensor, rather than having to worry about repairing the old device.
