Error E26 in a Bosch washing machine
Modern washing machines are equipped with a self-diagnosis system for faults, which allows you to quickly detect operating problems and notify users about them. Error E26 on a Bosch machine is quite rare; many service center technicians admit that they have never encountered such a code. Let's figure out how to repair the machine, what actions to take to fix the breakdown.
First, let's decipher
The tricky error E26 is caused by a non-obvious failure. The code can be triggered by problems with the main electronic module, a failed intake valve, a broken pressure switch, or a damaged pump. More often, E26 on automatic washing machines Bosch reports problems with the water level sensor. Therefore, it is recommended to start repairs by diagnosing this element.
A win-win option is to take a working pressure switch, install it instead of the existing one in the machine and observe the operation of the machine. If the error code no longer appears, the cause of the failure has been identified. You can try adjusting the level sensor or simply throw out the old one and install a new part.
Checking the pressure switch
We figured out what to do first to eliminate error E26 - check the pressure switch. Where is the sensor located, how to get to it? In fact, it is very easy to find it in a Bosch washing machine.
The pressure switch is located under the top cover of the machine, closer to the right wall, and is a round element to which wires and a pressure hose are connected.
To check the water level sensor, you need to gain access to the part. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:
- turn off the power to the Bosch washing machine;
- turn off the water supply tap;
- Unscrew the bolts securing the top panel of the unit. Carefully pull the cover back from the front of the washer, remove it and put it aside;
- find the level sensor. For most machines it is attached to the top, on the right wall of the case.
Once you reach the pressure switch, disconnect it from the hose. To do this, loosen the clamp (using pliers). To diagnose the level sensor, you will need to find and prepare a small tube with a diameter corresponding to the removed hose.
The tube needs to be put on the pressure switch fitting, then lightly blow into it. If the sensor is working properly, its contacts, under pressure, should work and clicks will be heard. The number of “signals” depends on how many water levels are provided in your Bosch model to carry out different washing programs.
Be sure to inspect the tube to make sure there are no defects on the surface. If cracks or other damage is found, the hose will have to be replaced. Also check the pressure switch relay contacts. If they are dirty, you will have to clean the element. If the contacts stick, the best solution is to replace the sensor.
If an external inspection does not reveal any damage, it is worth checking the pressure switch with a special device - a multimeter. You need to turn on the tester, switch it to resistance measurement mode and place the probes against the contacts of the level relay. If the pressure switch is working properly, the resistance value on the device display should change. Otherwise, the sensor will need to be replaced.
Part replacement
In most cases, to fix the problem, you will have to install a new pressure switch. Even a beginner can replace the water level sensor; it is not necessary to call a specialist for repairs. First you need to purchase a working element. The part must fit specifically to your Bosch washing machine.
To avoid confusion, you can remove the sensor and go to the store with it. Another option is to tell the consultant the model and serial number of the washing machine. After purchasing the pressure switch, you can begin replacing it. The algorithm of actions is as follows:
- get to the sensor by removing the top cover of the machine;
- disconnect the wires and hoses going to the element;
It is advisable to take a photograph of the wiring and tube connection diagram so as not to make mistakes during further assembly.
- Unscrew the screws that secure the pressure switch to the body;
- remove the part from the machine;
- put the new level sensor in place, secure it with bolts;
- connect the previously removed contacts, secure the pressure hose with a clamp.
Thus, replacing the liquid level switch is quite simple. After all the contacts and pipes are connected to the sensor, all that remains is to put the top roof of the Bosch washing machine in place. Next, you can run a test wash and check if the error code disappears. If you cannot reset E26, you will have to invite a technician to more thoroughly diagnose the equipment and check the main control module.
