Error E1 in Haier washing machine

Error E1 in Haier washing machineMost often, washing machine users do not think about what this or that error code means until they come across such a problem face to face. For example, if a Haier washing machine does not want to wash and displays combination E1 on the display, the problem must be looked for in the hatch door or locking device. Sometimes, to solve the problem, it is enough to press the door with your knee, and sometimes this measure is clearly not enough. What to do if difficulties arise?

We are looking for mechanical damage

There are a huge number of reasons why the hatch does not close or is not blocked, ranging from simple negligence on the part of the owner (he hung heavy wet things on the door, which damaged the hinges) and ending with a manufacturing defect. However, there are also much more banal and topical options for the development of events. Most often, a fault code is displayed for the following reasons:

  • after prolonged regular use the door became warped;
  • the locking tongue in the UBL, designed to secure the closed door, has moved;
  • any of the constituent elements of the door mechanism has worn out.

SM Haier door misalignmentIt is very easy to recognize this kind of malfunction. It is enough to simply test the machine outside the operating mode. If the hatch really does not close or does not lock in the closed state, then the problem is most likely either in skewed fasteners or in a broken locking device. Sometimes this outcome is the result of incorrect installation, when due to an imbalance of weight, load and vibration, the hinges cannot withstand, but in most cases the reason lies in the dishonest use of the unit. Well, we still need to do something.

  1. Inspect the drum and the machine body in the area of the hatch; perhaps foreign objects are preventing the lock from closing.
  2. Check that the locking mechanism fits into the intended niche and that the locking element is not loose.
  3. Feel and evaluate the condition of the cuff and plastic covering. Perhaps something has peeled off or stretched.

UBL also has such a part - a plastic guide. Due to the low wear resistance of the material, it is often subject to deformation during active use. With a broken guide, closing the hatch seems mechanically impossible, since it interferes with the slamming of the door.

Problem in UBL or electronics

buy a new UBLIf the door closes without problems, but does not lock, and the machine stubbornly refuses to start working, and the display shows error E1, then the problem lies within the hatch locking device itself.

In order for the machine to start washing, UBL gives it a signal that the hatch is sealed and there is no threat of a flood. Accordingly, if the device fails, it either does not block the door at all, or simply does not understand that everything is blocked and it’s time to start the process. The lack of blocking is due to wear of the bimetallic plates. They are under constant influence of current, as a result of which they wear out, become deformed, etc. Since the responsibility for blocking the hatch lies with these elements, they must be urgently changed if necessary, otherwise repairs cannot be made.

Note! Sometimes small debris (lint, pieces of foreign objects, etc.) gets into the device. All this can accumulate inside the part for a long time, or it can damage it immediately after being hit. In any case, the element must be removed and cleaned of dirt.

Now let’s look at cases where the problem lies in the “brains” of the washing machine, namely, in the electronic module. Usually everything is predictable: either the wiring has burned out, or the program has crashed. It is quite difficult to diagnose a breakdown in the management module; you need to go over it completely with a multimeter and inspect the board for traces of “scorches”. In general, then, depending on the results of the study, you will need to either reflash the module, repair it, or replace it with a new one.

Without special skills and experience, do not even try to make repairs yourself when it comes to electronics. This type of work requires qualifications. If the problem is purely mechanical in nature, you can try to fix it yourself to save time and money. However, remember that if you seriously damage the device through your actions, you will have to pay much more money than if you immediately call a specialist for diagnostics and possible repairs.

    It may happen that a hair tie or some lace from children's clothing gets into the water drain pump. And error E1 also appears because of this.
