Error E01 in Zanussi washing machine
According to statistics, most often a Zanussi washing machine produces error E01. Sometimes it is possible to “say goodbye” to the code by rebooting the equipment, but sometimes more targeted and decisive actions are needed to fix the problem. Otherwise, the washing machine will remain frozen, preventing you from finishing the started wash. Zanussi won't just fix it - you need to decipher the code that appears and determine the cause of the failure. Step-by-step instructions and explanations will help you cope with the task.
What kind of failure does the code “scream” about?
There is usually no choice of what to do with error E01 on Zanussi. If rebooting the system does not help, the technical “glitch” is eliminated and troubleshooting begins. The first step is to decipher the combination displayed on the display. There is no need to guess - you should look at the factory instructions and carefully read the explanation from the manufacturer.
As a rule, a “one” indicates problems with water drainage. The washing machine was unable to empty the drum in the measured 4 minutes, the board recorded a delay, stopped the cycle, and the self-diagnosis system displayed an error code on the screen.
The following problems may be hidden under the E01 fault code:
- the pump is clogged or broken;
- the drain hose is clogged or squashed;
- The garbage filter is dirty.
Error code E01 on Zanussi indicates a non-functioning drain.
To reset the error and continue washing, you will have to sequentially check each element of the drainage system. It is recommended to start with a “light” garbage filter, and finish with a pump that is more “heavy” to clean and diagnose. Let's look at what exactly to do next.
Cleaning the fluff filter element
Checking the drain system begins with the garbage filter. This is a small plastic “spiral” on which most of the debris that gets into the washer settles. Without regular cleaning, the nozzle becomes dirty, preventing waste water from flowing from the tank into the sewer. Especially if large debris gets into the drum - paper, coin, keys, a skein of hair or a child's sock.
The drain filter is located in the lower right part of the housing behind the technical hatch. To get to it and clean it, you need to act in a certain sequence.
- Remember safety precautions. First, Zanussi is disconnected from the power grid and water supply, otherwise there is a risk of flooding or electric shock.
- Provide access to the filter. The technical hatch door is pryed up with a screwdriver and unhooked from the body. You need to carefully squeeze out the plastic latches-holders.
- Prepare your workplace. Unscrewing the filter is a dirty and wet job. It is necessary to tilt the body of the machine back, place a basin under the bottom, and cover the surrounding space with oilcloth and rags.
- Unscrew the filter. It is enough to grab the protruding part on the plug and, working counterclockwise, pull the nozzle out. It is better to act slowly so that the water flows in a thin stream.
- Clean the nozzle. First, the filter is washed, then cleaned with an old toothbrush. In case of heavy plaque, soaking in a warm lemon solution is acceptable. Hot water cannot be used - the plastic may become deformed.
The cleaning doesn't end there. It is also important to shine a flashlight into the filter seat, clean out large debris and wipe its walls with a damp cloth.
The garbage filter cannot be washed or soaked in boiling water - maximum 40 degrees!
The clean filter is returned to its original place and screwed in clockwise. Afterwards, the technical hatch door is fixed to the body, and the equipment is connected to communications. You need to immediately check the quality of the repair: turn on any short cycle and monitor the display. If the error is not displayed, then the problem has been resolved.
Let's take out and check the drain pump
It is better not to stop after cleaning the filter, but to immediately inspect the entire drain system. More precisely, the pump and its impeller. In this case, the “spiral” is not inserted into place, but a hand or a hooked wire is inserted into the hole. The task is to reach the blades on the pump and check their rotation. It should be neither difficult nor too free.
Attempts to “fix” a fallen impeller on the pump axis with electrical tape or glue are unacceptable - such a move will only delay the necessary repairs!
If the blades do not move, then it is necessary to eliminate the cause of the stop - a stuck object or tangled hair. An impeller that has fallen off the axis, like a broken one, cannot be repaired; it is better to immediately replace it with a serviceable part.
It is advisable to carry out a comprehensive diagnostics of the pump. We proceed like this:
- turn Zanussi on its right side;
- we look through the bottom and find the pump;
- We apply the probes of the multimeter, turned on to measure resistance, to the contacts of the pump.
Then we look at the tester readings: if “0” is displayed on the screen, it means the pump is not working, if more, everything is in order. However, you shouldn’t stop here either. It is recommended to disassemble the pump body and clean the device from all dirt from all sides with your own hands. Then we return the device to its original place, run a test wash and wait for error “E01” to disappear.
The drain hose is clogged
The third reason E01 appears on Zanussi is problems with the drain hose. As a rule, we are talking about a clogged sleeve. It’s easy to check for debris in the corrugation: just disconnect one end of it from the pump by lifting the machine, and the other from the sewer pipe.
Next, remove the blockage by rinsing the hose under water or soaking it in a soapy solution. It is important that the water is not hot, otherwise the rubber may deform from high temperatures. In case of heavy deposits, it is recommended to use special cleaners - citric acid, soda or store-bought compounds for cleaning the washing machine.
If the blockage is firmly stuck in the pipe, then flushing will not help. It is necessary to push the lump with wire:
- find aluminum or metal wire with a cross-section of at least 5 mm;
- use pliers to bend one end into a ring;
- insert a “hook” into the hose and try to clear the blockage;
- rinse the sleeve under the tap.
It's not always a matter of blockage. It often happens that the fault lies in a temporarily non-functioning sewer system. Sometimes the problem is a pinched or displaced hose. In this case, it is much easier to correct the situation - just correct the sleeve. The main thing is not to forget about the subsequent inspection of the corrugation: the plastic must be intact, without damage, cracks or other defects. Remember that otherwise leaks are inevitable.
Error E01 on Zanussi machines appears if the drain hose is pinched, moved or clogged.
It is not difficult to deal with the displayed error “E01” on Zanussi with your own hands. You just need to thoroughly clean the drain system and, if necessary, replace damaged parts with intact ones.
