Kaiser washing machine displays error E01
An automatic machine can display error E01 at any stage of the wash cycle. The cycle will either not start at all, or will stop in the middle or towards the end. Washing machines equipped with a digital display will display the corresponding code on the display; models without a screen will notify you of a breakdown by flickering LEDs. Let's figure out what the E01 code displayed by the Kaiser washing machine means. We'll tell you how you can reset the error.
What happened to the machine?
If an automatic washing machine issues code E01, the cycle is immediately interrupted. To understand how to fix the “home assistant”, you need to figure out what kind of breakdown we are talking about.
Error E01 signals that the hatch door is not tightly closed.
This code does not always mean that the door is open and the system is leaking. Sometimes there are no complaints about the mechanical part of the lock, but the problem lies precisely in the electrics. There are several reasons that may lead to the display of error E01:
- damage to UBL;
- skewed hinges on which the door is suspended;
- lock breakdown;
- failure of the triac on the control board that controls the door lock.
What to do when the washer gives a code? First, make sure the UBL is working properly. Before starting the washing program (even before error E01 is displayed), press the hatch firmly with your knee. If the lock works, then the cause of the malfunction is either in the mechanics of the lock, or in the hinges, or in the control module.
Often, the Kaiser washing machine displays error E01 due to skewed door hinges. Inspect them - even if no defects are visible, still use an open-end wrench to tighten the bolts securing the “canopies”. If this does not help, unscrew the screws and remove the door.Then try to hang it evenly back on the hinges. In certain situations, dismantling the hatch and reinstalling it helps solve the problem.
Mechanism inside the door
If adjusting the hinges does not help, you need to inspect the locking mechanism itself. The problem may be that there are notches on the “tongue” going into the hole. It is very easy to correct the situation - just grind off the defects in the lever with a file.
See if the latch comes off on your Kaiser washing machine. If not, you will have to work with a solid door. After sharpening with a file, the lever must be treated with graphite lubricant. The composition on the “tongue” must be blotted with a napkin, otherwise during the next wash the substance will get on the laundry and stain the fabric. Sometimes error E01 is caused by damage to the spring or hook of the locking mechanism. In this case, replacement of components will be necessary.
Testing an electric lock
When the Kaiser automatic machine issues code E01, and everything is fine with the lock mechanics, it is worthwhile to diagnose the UBL. You can test the element with a multimeter. To gain access to UBL, you must:
- turn off the power to the Kaiser washing machine;
- open the hatch;
- Unscrew the two screws securing the mechanism;
- bend the sealing collar on the side, in the area where the blocker is located;
- stick your hand inside and take out the UBL;
- remove the wiring from the blocker.
The multimeter must be switched to ohmmeter mode. Connect one tester probe to the neutral contact, the other to the phase. If a three-digit number appears on the device display, the UBL is normal. The diagnosis does not end there. The tester probes should be placed against the neutral and common contact. A one or zero on the multimeter screen will indicate a malfunction of the hatch locking device.
To do the repair yourself, you need to buy a new UBL suitable for a specific Kaiser washing machine and install it in place of the old one. After this, error E01 will be reset, and the “home assistant” will begin to work normally. If no faults were found during the inspection, you will have to inspect the control board. It is better to entrust the repair of the electronic module to specialists.
