Samsung washing machine error 6E (bE)
Error 6E (aka bE) in a Samsung washing machine occurs quite often. Moreover, this can happen either at the very beginning, or in the middle, or even sometimes at the end of the wash. The machine suddenly stops working, freezes, and “6E” appears on the display. What does this code mean, what malfunction is it caused by, and how can I fix this malfunction? We will talk about all this in this publication.
Let's decipher the code
This code can be briefly deciphered as a heating element error. But what does the phrase “heating element error” mean, what is hidden under it? And there are two faults hidden underneath. The first is connected directly to the heating element, when the heating element burns out completely and the part needs to be replaced. The second is related to problems with the heating element’s power supply, when its contact burns out or the wiring breaks. In both cases, the heating element stops functioning, and the self-diagnosis system reacts to this in the manner described above.
Attention! If you have a Samsung washing machine that was manufactured before 2007, it is possible that instead of code 6E, code bE will appear on its display - this means the same thing.
How to get to the ten?
Before making a decision to replace the heating element or repair contacts and wiring, you need to decide what exactly is broken. It is impossible to do this in absentia without disassembling the Samsung washing machine. So, all we have to do is get to the heating element and see what’s wrong there. Let's do the following.
- We take out the powder receptacle, and then through a special hose, which is located near the garbage filter, we drain the water from the tank.If the Samsung machine generated error 6E before water filled the tank or the washing machine managed to drain the water, you can skip this step.
- We dismantle the top cover of the Samsung washing machine.
- We unscrew the screws that are located to the right and left of the powder receptacle niche. And one screw, which is located on the right side of the control panel at the end.
- We pry up the control panel with a flat screwdriver and move it up. There is no need to remove the panel at all, since there is an impressive bundle of wires attached to it; removing them and then putting them back in place is extra work.
- Now let's move on to the hatch cuff. We need to take it off. It's not difficult, but if you have problems, read the article How to remove the cuff of the washing machine hatch.
- At the base of the washing machine body in front there is a narrow decorative panel. They are attached to latches; to remove these latches, we hook them with a flat screwdriver, and then remove the panel.
- Under the lower protrusion of the front panel of the Samsung washing machine, we find 4 bolts and unscrew them.
- There are a few more screws above the top lip of the front panel that need to be removed.
- Disconnect the wiring from the hatch locking device. There is no need to remove the device itself.
- We take the front wall with both hands, lift it up a little, remove it and put it to the side.
Well, we can see a heating element right under the hatch of the Samsung washing machine, sticking out from the front wall of the tank. More precisely, we will not see the entire heating element, but only a small part of it: contacts, sealing rubber, the base of the housing and the fastening element, but this is already very good.
Replacing the washer heater
Well, let's arm ourselves with a device called a multimeter and check the resistance of the contacts of the heating element.If the resistance value is 25-30 Ohms, the heating element is most likely working, but if the device display shows zero or one, the part needs to be changed. If the heating element is working properly, carefully inspect the contacts and wiring supplying the heating element, there is definitely something there.
A burnt contact or wiring can be seen even without checking it with a multimeter.
If the heater is still faulty, you need to start replacing it, but first remove the faulty part. It's easy to do:
- unscrew the central nut, which is located between the contacts of the heating element;
- very carefully, grasping the pin with pliers, shake the heating element from side to side;
- apply a light blow to the stud with pliers, the heating element should move slightly inward;
- Using the same flat screwdriver, remove the heating element out.
Now let's examine the burnt heating element. Usually, a large amount of scale and other debris sticks to a faulty washing machine heater. If you have a ceramic heating element on your car, this is the worst thing. Do not take the exact same heating element under any circumstances; it is better to look for a metal analogue, because heaters with ceramic coating have performed very poorly.
We look for and buy a regular metal heating element for a Samsung washing machine, clean the seat with sandpaper, insert a new heating element into the hole and screw it on. Then we hang the wiring on the contacts, after which we assemble the washing machine, install it and check for functionality.
To summarize, we note that error 6E on a Samsung washing machine almost always means a breakdown of medium complexity. So don’t hesitate, carefully study our publication and get down to repairing your “home assistant”.You shouldn’t put this off, otherwise the machine won’t wash. Good luck!
The video was shot poorly. Only the back of the head is always visible.
Good article. Thank you!
Po suffered, but took it off. Thank you.
Well explained. Thank you!
In our washing machine the heating element was in the back! Everything is even simpler there.
Error 6e. Worked for 12 years. When I started any program I got this error. Changed the brushes on the engine. And all hockey. Earned it. Maybe the info will be useful to someone.
I also solved this problem by replacing the brushes. It’s a pity that I read this comment later.
I also had these brushes. It's easy to check. Put it on spin, if the error pops up, but the drum still does not spin, then you need to turn off the drum, rotate the drum a little and put it on spin again. Most likely it will spin for some time before this error occurs. Then it's 100% brushes.
Good afternoon. I'll put it on delicate wash - 6e shows. And if it’s a quick rinse and spin, then does it work? Brush or heater, what do you think? Thank you!
