Drum cleaning function in the Indesit washing machine
Complex household appliances require regular maintenance and prevention, especially washing equipment. If you do not monitor your “home assistant,” this may negatively affect her performance and washing efficiency. For example, if you do not use the drum self-cleaning mode in an Indesit washing machine, then at some point the machine will begin to dirty clothes instead of cleaning them. Therefore, it is not enough to just occasionally wipe all easily accessible parts of the washing machine - you also need to carefully take care of the internal components of the washing machine. We'll tell you the easiest way to do this using a special work cycle.
We begin the self-cleaning process
Unfortunately, Indesit brand products do not have a special cleaning function that could be launched with one button for a comprehensive drum wash. However, this is not a reason for frustration, because this point is carefully thought out and described in detail in the user manual. The help documentation states that you can clean the key components of the washer using an intensive program that heats the water to a maximum of 90 degrees Celsius. How to enable it?
- Activate the washing machine.
- Check the drum - there should be no clothes or foreign objects in it.
- Close the hatch door until it clicks.
- Pour hot water into the powder receptacle along with a special cleaner for washing machines.
- Select the duty cycle using the programmer and start it.
- Wait for the cleaning function to complete, which usually takes about 80 minutes.
The water heating temperature and operating time may vary depending on the Indesit machine model.
When the program is completed, all you have to do is open the hatch door slightly and pull out the powder receptacle so that the machine and its insides quickly cool down and dry thoroughly. To speed up the process, it is permissible to remove moisture with a dry cloth.
At the same time, it is better for the user not to interfere during operation, since the machine itself does an excellent job of cleaning. For example, you should not add products not specified by the manufacturer to the cuvette for household chemicals. This applies to ordinary soda, table vinegar, citric acid and other things, which do not improve cleaning efficiency, but increase the risk of equipment failure.
The drum looks clean, why clean it?
Often, users believe that the drum does not need to be cleaned at all, because to the naked eye it seems that it is in perfect condition. The main problem lies in the fact that this unit suffers from time to time due to the development of mold and various harmful bacteria, which are quite difficult to detect.
This happens due to the fact that after washing, waste liquid may remain in the machine, as well as various contaminants, which not only can affect the formation of an unpleasant odor, but can also provoke the development of an allergic reaction in humans.
It is necessary to clean the drum because of contaminants that settle not on the inside of the drum, but on the outside, which cannot be seen without disassembling the equipment.
The cleaning function helps eliminate unpleasant odors, allergens, harmful bacteria, mold and any other contaminants that can seriously ruin the life of a housewife. You just have to wait for the self-cleaning program to complete, and the “home assistant” will again begin to delight you with first-class results, as if it had just been purchased and installed. Therefore, you should not ignore such a banal procedure as monthly cleaning of the SM drum, especially since the machine cleans itself, which is why the owner of the equipment does not have to do everything manually.
Products to help improve cleaning
We have already found out that you should not add soda, vinegar, citric acid and other improvised means to the powder receptacle yourself. For the cleaning cycle, it is necessary to use special household chemicals, which significantly increases the effectiveness of such cleaning. Let's define the most common professional tools.
- Beckmann is a product from Germany based on glycerin, nonionic surfactants, activated carbon and citric acid. You can find such a product both in powder form and in a more convenient gel form. It is designed to combat scale, dirt, mold and unpleasant odors. Due to the fact that the chemistry works great even in hard-to-reach areas of equipment, it is recommended to use it for the self-cleaning program of the vehicle. Regular use of this detergent also allows you to extend the life of the Indesit washing machine, because its special components prevent the rubber and metal parts of the device from deforming and failing due to corrosion.
- Tiret is a product more familiar to domestic consumers and can be found in any supermarket. Qualitatively eliminates any foreign odors, limescale, scale and other contaminants. The product efficiently cleans all key components of the washer thanks to its composition of nonionic surfactants, citric acid and flavoring, which provides a pleasant lemon smell after completion of work.
- Bosch is a product created by the manufacturer of household appliances itself. Sold in powder form, it fights soap and limescale, dirt, mold and unpleasant odors.
These are not all the detergents that can be found in stores, but they are the easiest to buy, plus they have an excellent price-quality ratio.
Useful modes of the Indesit machine
We figured out how to turn on the self-cleaning program, chose the cleaning product, all that remains is to sort out the basic washing modes needed every week. Conventionally, they can be divided into classical and auxiliary. The former can be found in any automatic washing machine, while the presence or absence of additional functions directly depends on the cost of the device. First of all, we will analyze the main modes of the machine.
- Functions for cleaning cotton products - often in technology you can find three cycles for processing cotton. The first allows you to clean a maximum of items in 171 minutes, which will go through not only the main washing stage, but also pre-soaking, which is perfect for kitchen towels and napkins. The second is devoid of a preliminary washing stage, so it lasts 155 minutes, during which it intensively washes heavily soiled items such as tablecloths, towels and bed linen. Finally, the last mode for cotton can effectively process colored items in 147 minutes, using a fairly gentle water temperature of only 40 degrees Celsius.
If you need a different temperature mode, then you can always change the heating settings yourself using the CM control panel.
- Options for washing synthetic materials, of which there are usually two. One for intensive cleaning of things in water heated to 60 degrees and with a working time of 85 minutes. The second is gentle, with a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and a duration of 71 minutes. Often the maximum permissible drum load in these modes is only half of the maximum, that is, about 2.5-3.5 kilograms.
- Mode for wool. A separate cycle that allows you to carefully process wool and cashmere in 55 minutes, heating the water to the standard 40 degrees. It also features a reduced spin speed, as well as a minimal drum load - you can wash only 1-1.5 kilograms of dirty clothes at a time.
- Silk care cycle. Allows you to clean curtains, underwear and various viscose items that need to be handled very carefully. There is no spin, the heating of the water is only 30 degrees Celsius, the duration is 55 minutes, and the load is the same 1-1.5 kilograms.
Depending on the model of the “home assistant”, the programs for cotton may be called “prewash”, “everyday wash”, “intensive wash” and “delicate wash”. In addition, the display usually indicates the temperature to which the water will be heated during the cycle. Popular additional functions, most of which are designed for washing certain types of clothing, include the following:
- Jeans. A special mode for washing denim items at a temperature of 40 degrees, with minimal spin and a load of up to 2.5 kilograms.
- Express 15.An ultra-fast cycle for those who need to refresh less than 1.5 kilograms of clothes in 15 minutes using water heated to 30 degrees Celsius.
To protect your items, do not wash silk, wool or other delicate fabrics on this cycle.
- Sport shoes. Option for gentle treatment of sneakers, suede sneakers, fabric shoes, and so on. Heating reaches only 30 degrees, duration is 50 minutes, maximum load is only two pairs.
- Sport. A similar delicate mode, only for sportswear. Loading up to 2.5 kilograms, duration 78 minutes, heating at the same 30 degrees Celsius.
- An additional and gentle rinse is usually necessary to remove all household chemicals from the fabric fibers.
- Spin, which allows you to quickly spin things again if the machine fails the first time.
- Draining without spinning is convenient in a situation where you just need to get rid of the waste liquid, and then immediately begin removing the laundry from the drum.
- Eco. A special mode for saving electricity and water, which will significantly reduce utility costs. It can only be activated for one of the cotton cycles and also for cleaning synthetic fabrics.
At first glance, it seems that all this variety of working cycles is easy to get confused and difficult to understand, but once you start using the Indesit automatic washing machine, all this information will instantly be imprinted in your memory.
