Drum cleaning function in a Beko washing machine
When you buy a new washing machine, be sure to understand its software. In addition to the basic algorithms, the memory of modern machines contains many useful additional functions. For example, users are often helped by the drum self-cleaning option.
What is the drum cleaning option for in a Beko washing machine? How does this program work and how long does it take? How to enable the mode? Let's look into the nuances.
How does this algorithm work?
Garbage accumulates inside any washing machine. These could be detergent particles, lint, threads, sand. To combat plaque in modern Beko has a drum cleaning function.
The self-cleaning mode resembles the first start of an automatic machine. The washing machine must be empty - without laundry in the drum. It is better to use special household chemicals to wash the SMA.
This mode lasts just under three hours. Average 165 minutes - times may vary slightly depending on Beko model. Self-cleaning steps:
- The machine performs a pre-wash;
- the machine starts the main cleaning, the water in the tank warms up to 90°C, the drum rotates at a speed of up to 150 rpm;
- The washer begins a double rinse, washing away the deposits from the surface of the drum.
It is recommended to run the self-cleaning mode on the Beko SMA once every two to three weeks.
This frequency will be sufficient to prevent contamination of the SMA. After such treatment, you should also clean the drain filter of the washing machine. It accumulates debris, lint, threads, and foreign objects, accidentally caught in the drum.
How to activate this feature?
Starting the self-cleaning function is very simple.To activate the mode, you must use the programmer. So, to turn on the machine for “self-washing”, you need:
- make sure that there are no things in the drum of the washing machine (if there are, remove them);
- close the SMA hatch door tightly;
- turn on the washing machine to the power supply;
- open the water supply tap (if you close the valve after each use of the SMA);
- press the network button on the dashboard;
- Use the program selector to select the “Drum self-cleaning” option;
- Click "Start".
Then all you have to do is wait for the machine to complete the cycle. Afterwards, the hatch door opens to dry the drum. Also, at the end of the cycle, it is better to clean the garbage filter of the washing machine.
The self-cleaning function is not available on all Beko machines. However, this does not mean that it will not be possible to wash the washer from the inside. You can use a similar algorithm that is available on any slot machine.
How to rinse the machine without the “Drum Self-Cleaning” mode?
It’s clear how the washing machine works in self-cleaning mode. The cycle includes a pre-wash, main wash and double rinse. In this case, the water heating temperature should be maximum – 90 degrees. It is not difficult to imitate such a program; every Beko machine has a similar algorithm - “Cotton”.
It is quite possible to replace the “Drum Self-Cleaning” function with the standard “Cotton 90°C” algorithm.
What to do if there is no self-cleaning function:
- turn on the machine;
- use the programmer to select the “Cotton” mode;
- The washing machine will standardly set the temperature to 60°C, but it needs to be increased to 90°C;
- disable the spin option;
- connect the “Soaking” option to the main cycle;
- start the wash.
The machine will run idle for almost the same 3 hours, flushing the system from the inside no worse than during self-cleaning. It is advisable to use a special detergent to combat scale and unpleasant odors. It is poured into the powder receptacle or directly into the drum.
Do not run self-cleaning more than twice in a row. This will create an additional load on the heating element - the heating element may burn out. This recommendation applies to any high temperature regime.
