Indesit washing machine maintenance
They talk about servicing the Indesit washing machine very often, but they do it much less often. But it is timely prevention and proper maintenance of expensive equipment that can extend its service life. There are three types of preventive measures: physical and chemical cleaning, daily prevention, and preventive examination. We'll look at all three today.
Will the machine break down if it is properly maintained?
Regardless of the price, any equipment is subject to simple wear and tear of elements. The same goes for manufacturing defects, which can happen with any brand. No matter how complete and high-quality the preventive procedures are, the washing machine can still fail at some point. This is due to the following factors that interfere with the stable operation of household appliances:
- water quality;
- features of the electrical network;
- non-compliance with operating rules;
- factory assembly;
- quality of parts;
- various force majeure events.
Even forgotten change in a trouser pocket during washing can damage a home assistant and significantly shorten its life cycle.
Therefore, it is so important to follow all the instructions and rules for operating an automatic washing machine, and also do not forget about prevention and timely troubleshooting. Then there is a chance that the equipment will work not only for the entire warranty period, but even much longer. But for the sake of such a result, you will have to work hard, spending time and effort on it.
The ideal scenario is a routine inspection of the washing machine every three years, during which it is necessary to partially disassemble the machine and inspect its key parts. There is no need to do this yourself, since any service center will be happy to provide such a service, whose technician will independently disassemble complex equipment, check the engine, pipes and other key elements of the “home assistant” for wear. Only timely replacement of the pipe can save your neighbors from flooding and payment of compensation for repairs, so you should not neglect prevention.
Follow basic operating rules
If you carefully monitor your washing, regularly check the operation of the machine, and also follow all the rules of use, then maintenance will be required much less frequently. But in order to reliably protect the washing machine from damage, preventive measures should be taken during each wash. We will not discover anything new now, since these are standard procedures that everyone should know about. However, some people neglect these simple requirements, so we will remind you of them again.
Due to the fact that usually hard tap water is used for washing, all the minerals from this water remain on the machine drum, the walls of the pipes, and also penetrate into the pumps and hoses. All this wealth of the Russian water supply can damage the fragile Indesit equipment, which is not adapted to water of such low quality. Often, after a breakdown, whole kilograms of water stone are found in the machine, due to which the equipment fails before the warranty period.
To prevent water stone from settling in your appliances, remember to soften the water before each wash, for example, using Calgon powder.
Any softening powders and gels can “save the lives of home assistants,” so it is recommended to use similar chemistry during each cycle. If you wish, you can go even further in preventative measures and purchase water purification filters. They are more expensive than softening powders, but they last longer and purify the water much better. However, working with water is not the only thing that can help avoid breakdowns.
One of the most important points when working with a washing machine is simple care. Never forget to check your clothing pockets, because even the smallest coin, washing machine keys, toothpick, nail or any other small sharp object can damage your equipment. For the same reason, you need to separately wash dangerous items that have iron locks, buckles, large buttons, etc. that can get stuck in the machine. Such clothes, like shoes, can only be washed in a special bag.
Also pay close attention to the maximum load weight limit. Overload, as well as uneven distribution of clothing, can also cause damage. Also, check the manufacturer's instructions for washing temperature recommendations. Wash in water at 95 degrees Celsius only when absolutely necessary, as this mode accelerates wear and tear on equipment, just like the boiling function.
You should not leave the house while the washing machine is running, as you must always be prepared to troubleshoot various problems. Nobody canceled sudden water leaks and other emergencies. In addition, by looking after the machine, you can promptly hear or see signs of breakdown and immediately eliminate them.Of course, you don’t need to stand near household appliances for the entire cycle; it is advisable to simply be at home while they are working and check them at least once every half hour or hour.
After completing the work, you need to immediately take out the washed items so that they do not begin to rot, and black mold does not begin to appear on the machine due to humidity. You also need to open the hatch wide so that the machine is ventilated and all the water is completely dry, plus remove and clean the powder receptacle.
Do not neglect the rule of not turning off the device directly during operation, as this can lead to a malfunction of the control module, which will have to be purchased at a great expense.
When finishing washing, do not forget to clean the washer filter, and then, through the same filter or through the emergency drain hose, remove all remaining waste water. Finally, use a dry cloth to clean the rubber seal of the hatch so that no water remains there, as this could cause the rubber to tear in the future.
Deep cleaning of the washing machine
Using water softeners is great, but it is not a panacea for all machine breakdowns. The device still needs to be cleaned at least once every 2-3 years. This applies to the procedure for mechanical cleaning of a home assistant with your own hands. Chemical cleaning should be carried out at least once every 6 months.
Users are usually scared by the term “chemical cleaning,” but there is nothing complicated about it, so there is no need to call professionals for this procedure. It is enough to add a special product to the washing machine drawer, which is widely available on the market.Afterwards, you need to run the washing machine without laundry for a long cycle using high water temperature so that the cleaning agent removes all the dirt from the inside of the equipment.
This is an inexpensive but effective way to keep your home aide intact for as long as possible, and only takes a little time. With mechanical cleaning everything is much more complicated. To do this, you need to partially disassemble the machine.
- Remove the top cover of the device, the tray and the back wall.
- Also remove the pipe and clean it thoroughly.
- Remove the pump, which also needs to be completely flushed.
- Now pay close attention to the pipe that goes from the powder receiver to the tank.
- Pull out and wash the machine's garbage filter.
- Finally, remove and wash the inlet and drain hoses.
As you can see, there is also nothing complicated in the process of mechanical cleaning, but the procedure consists of 6 steps at once, so it usually takes the whole day. But the time spent is worth it, because in this way it is possible to significantly extend the life of household appliances. The most important thing in this procedure is not to overdo it during disassembly, not to damage anything, and then remember to reinstall everything securely in its place.
