Icons on a Siemens washing machine
On the panel of a Siemens washing machine you can find many symbols and inscriptions, not all of which are understandable to a Russian-speaking user. But, you must admit, it is impossible to use the washing machine to its fullest extent without knowing half of what the buttons on the control panel are responsible for. So, let's find out what the icons on a Siemens washing machine are and what functions are associated with them.
Signs appearing on the “screen”
The display of any washing machine is designed to show the user the stages and parameters of the selected washing program. And as a rule, with SM from Siemens, on the screen you can see information about the selected spin speed, the remaining time until the end of the cycle, the maximum drum load for the selected mode, as well as data about the specific stage of the cycle and the door lock. The washing machine displays blocking and cycle stage data on the display using symbols. How are they deciphered?
- If the key icon lights up on the display, it means the sunroof is locked. To activate the blocking or, conversely, cancel it, you need to hold down the “Start/Pause” key and hold it for about 5 seconds.
- Now about the washing steps. If you see on the display an image of a basin with a slide on top, this means the washing process itself. The image of a container full of water represents rinsing, and the spiral symbol represents spinning.
- Some Siemens models also have a function for reloading laundry into the drum. If you see an image of an open hatch door and the inscription YES next to it, then at this moment you can open the door and return the forgotten things. If the picture of the hatch door is accompanied by the inscription NO, it means that at this stage of the cycle it is no longer possible to add laundry.
The SM displays information about spin, time until the end of washing and maximum load in numbers.
Washing mode signs
Now let's turn directly to the images on the control panel, which symbolize the various washing modes.
- The “T-shirt and Pants” picture represents a program known widely as “Cotton,” which allows you to wash a wide range of everyday items and set the water temperature from cool to very hot.
- The image of a container with a vertical stripe on it indicates the pre-wash or, in other words, soaking mode for highly soiled items (water temperature is 60 degrees).
- The T-shirt icon with three stripes indicates the intensive wash program for textiles.
- The picture of a hanger with a shirt symbolizes the program for washing mixed fabrics (cotton + synthetics) at a temperature of 40 degrees.
- The image of a ball traditionally indicates the washing mode for woolen products or products in which wool has a large share.
Important! Sometimes on Siemens machines the “woolen” washing program is indicated not by a ball, but by a basin of water and a palm placed there.
- The image of a hanger without a shirt indicates the washing of synthetic fabrics with a choice of temperatures from 30 to 40 degrees.
- The black T-shirt design symbolizes the “Dark Items” wash program.
- The picture with a clock indicates an express program, the duration of which by itself is 30 minutes, but when using the additional SpeedPerfect function it can be reduced to 15.
- The picture with the image of the moon and the inscription Night was invented to activate the ultra-silent washing mode (intended for use at night). At the same time, the program does not provide spinning; then you will need to start the spinning function yourself!
- The image, which resembles a ribbon with crossed ends, indicates a delicate wash cycle intended for silk, satin and satin.
- The pattern of a spiral and a container with an arrow pointing down symbolizes the extreme spin option.
- The picture of a container full of water indicates an additional rinse program, which is necessarily followed by an automatic spin.
To select the desired program, Siemens washing machines have a cylindrical selector rotating in both directions with a mark. To set the mode you like, you need to scroll the selector so that the mark is opposite the designation of the desired program.
Utility keys
Of course, there are not as many optional features in a Siemens washing machine as there are washing modes, namely 5 of them.
- The button, which we used to call simply “Start/Pause” and which is indicated by a diamond with a vertical line inside, also performs a number of other functions. For example, it allows you to stop a running mode in order to reload laundry, or stop the program altogether.
- The program, indicated by the spiral icon, regulates everything related to the spin cycle. It allows you to change the speed indicated on the display or cancel the spin altogether. However, remember that the maximum speed is regulated by the program.
- The dial key offers the ability to delay the end of the cycle by hourly intervals for up to a day.
- The picture of the alarm ringing means the SpeedPerfect function, which was already mentioned above. It cuts the cycle time in half.
- The image of a basin with an arrow pointing upward indicates the activation of another rinse cycle with more water. May be accompanied by a written note "Water Plus".
Note! The maximum drum load is also reduced when the SpeedPerfect function is activated.
As soon as you connect one of the additional options, the corresponding indicator on the front panel will light up. Before using the washing machine, it is better to once again check all the images on the panel with the user manual.
