Malfunctions of the Indesit top-loading washing machine
Experienced craftsmen already know by heart the typical faults in Indesit top-loading machines. Most often, owners of Indesit washing machines suffer from failures in electronics, but less often they are faced with the need to replace bearings. We suggest not to give yourself surprises in the future, but to immediately deal with possible problems in the machines of this manufacturer.
The drum turned with the doors open
Three out of ten owners of Indesit washing machines contact the service center due to an overturned drum. More precisely, the tank doors open during rotation or scroll down when stopped, which makes it difficult to unload laundry and further operate the machine. The reasons for such trouble lie in a weakened hatch lock or careless closing. In any case, it is not easy to cope with the task on your own, and calling a repairman will cost a tidy sum.
If the washing machine is under warranty, then immediately contact the service center for professional help.
But you shouldn’t worry, since the breakdown is common, and instructions for fixing it yourself have long been known. We proceed as follows.
- We find a long, elastic and strong wire (ideally we are looking for steel wire with a diameter of 0.3-0.6 cm).
- Using pliers, bend one end into a “hook”.
- We insert the curved end into the washer.
- We try to hook the door and close the hatch.
- Closing the doors, turn the drum over.
If the Indesit washing machine has a small hole, then inserting the hook will be problematic. But there is a way out: you just need to enlarge one of the “holes” and try to repeat the procedure. When the wire does not help, you will have to completely disassemble the machine and close the hatch manually.
Problems with the control module
Washing machines from Indesit are also “famous” for their low-quality electronics. Problems with the “brain” manifest themselves in constant system freezes in the middle of a cycle or unexpected program resets. Often the machine can “please” that some mode does not turn on, although the other buttons switch without hesitation.
It is not recommended to repair a faulty control board yourself - only professionals can carry out a full diagnosis and fix the breakdown.
The scale and nature of the faults vary greatly, which only complicates the repairs. So, most often, users are faced with crashed firmware, burnt-out triacs, resistors and capacitors. But other breakdowns associated with loose contacts and poorly soldered tracks cannot be ruled out.
To protect Indesit from possible failures with electronics, you need to connect a voltage stabilizer to the circuit. An even supply of current will smooth out the “native” pulses and increase the service life of the module. But, as a rule, they don’t buy expensive devices for cheap washing machines, and the module cannot cope with a problematic power supply.
