Electrolux washing machine malfunctions
Electrolux household appliances are assembled in many countries. Despite the same “stuffing”, devices of the same model range can behave differently. At first, we wanted to dwell on possible problems with machines from this manufacturer in general. However, in the process of collecting information, it became clear that it was necessary to consider in more detail the malfunctions of the Electrolux washing machine of Polish and Russian assembly.
Most common breakdowns
Devices made in Russia and Poland have a lot in common, so the causes of breakdowns are often similar. The washing machines have the same weak points. In principle, anything can break down in Russian devices at any time. However, it is possible to identify faults that occur in Electrolux equipment produced both in Russia and Poland.
- The door locking mechanism is not working. It either does not open at the end of the wash, or does not close before starting the machine.
- The water does not heat up, or the system that is responsible for heating it functions intermittently.
- The self-diagnosis system periodically operates spontaneously. Various error codes appear on the screen of frozen equipment, although in reality there are no problems and no repairs are required.
- Water is not drained from the tank.
The indicated malfunctions in Polish and Russian Electrolux washing machines occur so often that they can be called a real scourge of this equipment. The reasons are banal: manufacturers use low-quality locking mechanisms and heating elements. Also, at these enterprises, insufficient time is devoted to testing devices, and problems in the firmware of the control module affect the incorrect operation of the washing machine.
No water heating
If the water in the Electrolux machine stops heating during washing, most likely the problem lies in a malfunction of the heating element. Russian and Polish manufacturers install inexpensive Chinese heating elements. In most cases, they last no more than 2 years. Washing machines of past decades were equipped with high-quality, durable parts. Models from the early 2000s still work smoothly, and the “original” heating elements look almost like new.
Common problems with heating elements are most often caused by harsh operating conditions. The heating element is at risk of failure if water with a high level of hardness flows in the pipes, and the user often washes clothes at the highest temperatures. In this case, it is necessary to carry out high-quality diagnostics of the part and replace it if a breakdown is detected.
In order to check the heating element, you should take a multimeter. It is necessary to dismantle the front wall of the machine. The heating element is located directly above the loading door. It is worth carefully removing the wires and checking the part for holes. After unscrewing the bolts, the heating element can be easily removed from the niche.
After unscrewing the temperature sensor, you should put it aside. The failed heating element is disposed of and a new one is installed in its place. The front wall, all the bolts are installed in place, then it is important to test the washing machine. If the device works, the DIY repair was completed successfully.
Momentary failures
Sometimes in Polish and Russian Electrolux washing machines there is a malfunction of the control module firmware. The signs can be varied, so even professionals with many years of experience do not always recognize what the reason is. Most often, when such a failure occurs, errors with different codes begin to pop up. The device may work normally, and then suddenly freeze and display an error. In this case, a new error code is displayed each time.
When an error occurs, the washing machine stops washing, rinsing or spinning clothes. No action will allow the stopped cycle to resume. The problem can only be solved by completely disconnecting the device from the power supply and restarting it after a while. However, subsequently the equipment will again start producing errors.
Important! If the control module is out of order, only a highly qualified technician with special knowledge can help; it is unlikely that you will be able to repair the equipment yourself.
The door is "moody"
If you have problems opening or closing the door, you need to check whether everything is in order with the lock (UBL) and the locking mechanism. The first part breaks quite often. The problem can only be solved by replacing it completely.
The locking mechanism fails much less often. Sometimes a lever breaks or a spring pops out. In this case, it is possible to repair the breakdown on your own; all the necessary components are sold on the Internet or in spare parts stores for repairing washing machines.
