Electrolux washing machine does not start
If the Electrolux washing machine, which was working properly just yesterday, does not start, then you cannot do without diagnostics. You will have to carefully inspect the machine, analyze its previous behavior and identify the reason for the stop. Several faults prevent the washing machine from starting up and starting washing at once: from problems with the power supply to a burnt-out control board. To understand what you had to face, you need to study the accompanying “symptoms”.
Alarming behavior of technology
It’s unlikely that a breakdown can be determined by a quick glance.. First, you need to assess the scale of the problem, remember the behavior of the machine the day before and try to notice signs that indicate problems. As a rule, failure of the washing machine to work is accompanied by the following symptoms:
- the system does not respond to user commands (the “Start” button is not pressed);
- when the machine is plugged in, the LEDs on the panel blink chaotically or do not light up at all;
- After selecting the mode, the washing machine freezes.
It is impossible not to notice the suspicious behavior of the machine. It cannot be controlled; the system does not read user commands. Several reasons can lead to such a breakdown:
- broken power supply (damaged power cord, power socket, no light in the room);
- faulty power filter (the FPS or the wiring connected to it has burned out);
- “stuck” dashboard buttons;
- broken UBL;
- a failed programmer - an element that controls the operation of the keys on the panel;
- worn wiring leading to the board;
- burnt out control module.
For any repairs to the washing machine, it is necessary to turn off the power and disconnect it from the water supply!
Almost all of the listed causes of failure can be identified and eliminated independently. The main thing is to take your time and carefully check each mentioned element of the system. Perhaps there is no problem at all - there was just a short-term “glitch” due to the equipment being overloaded.
“Tick” trivial reasons
For serious reasons, Electrolux rarely breaks down. More often it is a matter of simple user inattention or easily fixed faults. If the washing machine suddenly refuses to turn on the mode and start washing, then there is no need to panic - it is much more productive to soberly assess the situation and eliminate mini-troubles. We proceed like this:
- make sure that the washing machine is connected to the power supply;
- check if there is power in the room;
- We look at the power cord (in case it is pinched or damaged).
Then everything is simple: plug the forgotten cord into the outlet, straighten the power cord, or wait until the power supply is turned on. If the problem is a damaged power cable, you will have to replace it with a new one. It is strongly not recommended to “repair” wiring with twisted wires or electrical tape - it is unsafe!
If the cause of the failure has not been found, then diagnostics should be continued. You will have to consistently check all possible “sore points” of the system and carry out appropriate repairs.
Algorithm for finding the causes of a malfunction
The search for a breakdown begins with an analysis of the behavior of the Electrolux washing machine on the eve of a sudden shutdown. It is important to remember what preceded the system stop. Did the fault occur during the first wash, after a sudden power surge or long-term transportation? It is necessary to take into account all the little things, as any information will help narrow down the list of reasons.
If the program does not start on the newly purchased Electrolux, then it is not recommended to diagnose it yourself. Remember that new appliances come with a one-year warranty. It is better not to open the machine body, but to immediately contact the service center for free service. It is possible that the breakdown was caused by a manufacturing defect.
It’s another matter if the washing machine does not work after a power surge. The electronics of modern Electrolux are very sensitive to current surges, but more often than not, a specially designed surge protector takes the brunt. The FPS detects the excessive load and, when it burns out, emergency shuts down the system. After this, electricity does not pass into the machine for safety reasons.
It’s easy to check the condition of the interference filter yourself. Just follow the following instructions:
- remove the top cover from the case;
- find the FPS located at the side wall, at the input of the power cord;
- inspect the filter for signs of fire (burning smell, dark spots, melted insulation, swelling of the housing).
Visually, the entire filter is additionally “ringed” with a multimeter in ohmmeter mode. We apply the probes to the contacts and compare the indicators with the norm. If there are significant deviations, we change the part. The FPS cannot be repaired.
After making sure that the filter is in good condition, we continue the inspection. Now you need to check the integrity of the wiring leading from the FPS to the power button or to the control board. Perhaps, due to a sudden surge in voltage, the conductor has burned out or been damaged.
Next we move on to the dashboard.More precisely, we check its keys for sticking and ability to pass current. In the first case, we look to see if there is any detergent or dirt on the button that will have to be cleaned. In the second, we apply the multimeter probes and measure the resistance. A zero value will indicate a malfunction, which can be solved by replacing the part.
The machine often suffers due to improper transportation. Insufficient preparation for transportation leads to moisture getting on the board when shaking. You will have to check the control module by unhooking each semiconductor from the case and ringing it. True, it is not recommended to carry out such manipulations with your own hands - it is better to turn to professionals.
