Hansa dishwasher won't turn on
Every experienced dishwasher owner has at one time or another encountered a situation where a Hansa dishwasher does not turn on, and for no reason at all. If only yesterday the equipment was working, but today it does not respond to commands at all, then this is not a reason to despair and plan expensive repairs, because first you need to try to solve this problem yourself. We will analyze this very common case in detail and tell you what you can do so as not to pay a specialist, but to fix everything yourself.
Let's start with the most likely breakdowns
What should you do first if this happens to you? First, open the dishwasher's wash chamber door and examine the control panel. If absolutely every indicator is not lit or even blinking, then the equipment is clearly de-energized. In this situation, it is necessary to determine the possible causes.
- Your home is simply without power due to line maintenance, an emergency, or another incident.
- Perhaps there is light in the house, but there are problems with the electrical panel, on which the circuit breaker has simply been knocked out.
- If no fault is found, then the socket to which the PMM is connected may be faulty.
You can quickly check the outlet using any other electrical appliance, preferably one that is close in power to a Hansa dishwasher.
- Finally, check the power cord and the plug itself - there should be no visible damage, carbon deposits, etc. on them.
The most convenient way to check the socket is with a special indicator screwdriver. The cause of the malfunction may be hidden in a banal lack of power, due to which the outlet will be operational, but simply unable to power such a serious appliance as a dishwasher. In this case, you will have to create a separate power point in the house specifically for PMM.
In a situation where everything is in order with the electricity, and the switchboard is working properly, and the socket is functioning normally, you will have to look for the causes of the breakdown in the “home assistant” itself. You should start with the network cable, which can be accidentally punctured if crushed by a heavy object. A widespread situation is when, due to carelessness, housewives installed the machine on the wire, which is why it failed. If there is visible damage to the cable, then you should not try to repair it, but it is better to immediately buy a new one, in order to avoid emergency situations.
If not much time has passed since the purchase of the equipment, so it is still under warranty, then you should not carry out diagnostics and repairs yourself, but it is better to immediately call a service center specialist.
Be prepared for the fact that disassembling a Hansa dishwasher yourself will void the store's warranty. Because of this, you should resort to such manipulations only after the warranty period has expired.
What elements could burn?
So, the most common reasons have been verified, it’s time to diagnose the equipment yourself in order to understand what to do next with the equipment. What exactly could have broken down in the machine that caused it to stop starting?
- Thermal fuse. This part in the machine is responsible for emergency shutdown of the device when it overheats. Thus, the unit will not start if the fuse is blown out, or if it is simply burned out.You can check the functionality of the element using a standard multimeter. If the unit is broken, it must be urgently replaced with a new one.
- Recirculation pump condenser. This pump is needed to ensure that optimal pressure is maintained in the system and the liquid continuously circulates in the washing chamber. If sudden power surges often occur in your area, then this could be the reason for the failure of this part, which starts the pump motor.
- Work cycle start button. Very often, it is this small key that becomes an obstacle to the normal operation of the PMM. It is also checked with a multimeter. If the contacts become oxidized, they can be cleaned, but this procedure may not last long, so it’s safer to just buy a new button.
- Network filter. Relevant for cases when the device is connected through a noise suppression filter. You need to check it with the same multimeter. A faulty filter cannot be repaired, so feel free to look for a replacement.
- Lock on the door. It is this small lock that ensures the tightness of the system, so if it is broken, the PMM control module will not receive a signal about the system being sealed and the washing simply will not start. In this case, the machine will turn on and allow you to select a program, but will not start working. To restore the dishwasher's functionality, you will have to replace the lock.
- PMM control module. This is the most “terrible” breakdown, because it is not only one of the most important components of the device, which controls all other components, but it is also almost impossible to cope with it independently without the help of specialists.
We return to the recirculation pump condenser.If this is the cause of the breakdown, then the PMM will turn on, and even all the indicators will work, but the work cycle will not start. You can also understand that the problem is in the pump by the following signs:
- very low pressure from the sprinklers during the operating cycle;
- Poor cleaning of cutlery.
If the noise suppression filter is damaged, then the household appliance will not even start. This is possible if you have recently experienced frequent power surges in the network. If the last possible damaged element is the control module, then do not even try to get to it and repair it yourself. It’s better to immediately call a specialist who will carry out the following work:
- will completely remove the Hansa dishwasher door;
- remove the retaining screws located around the perimeter of the door;
- carefully disconnect all wiring from the module;
- examine the board visually, and then using a multimeter;
- if possible, he will carry out complex repairs to the unit, which may require replacing semiconductors and sensors, as well as restoring contacts.
- if the board cannot be restored, then you will have to buy a new part, which may not be much cheaper in price than a new dishwasher.
Most often, the “home assistant” stops working due to problems with electricity - for example, if the lights in the area are turned off, or if the socket fails. In the case of breakdowns, most often the equipment breaks down due to the thermal fuse, noise suppression filter, and the start button. Other options are not excluded, but are much less common.
