Decoding the labeling of Samsung washing machines
You have decided to purchase an automatic machine. Most often, when choosing, a set of numbers and letters that indicate the type of equipment causes difficulty. In fact, the labeling of Samsung washing machines is not so difficult to understand. In this publication we will try to look at why these symbols are needed and how to read them.
How to recognize a marking?
A set of certain letters and numbers contains information about the automatic washing machine. Let's try to figure out the decoding based on the WF602 sample.
- In this marking, the English letter W denotes a type of household appliance, namely an automatic washing machine.
- F – is written in the code to indicate the type of loading. This one is front loaded.
- The third position of the code is a number indicating the maximum volume of the washing machine tank. In our version – 60. This corresponds to a load of 6 kg of laundry. If this item is 49, then we understand that we are talking about 4.9 kg. Thus, if it were 40, then 4 kg. But this only means up to 9 kg; after 14 it will mean the maximum weight of loaded laundry is 14 kg.
- Last position -2. Here the manufacturer indicates the year when this model was released into production. Please note, this is not the year of manufacture of one specific washing machine. We are talking about the series as a whole and the timing of its appearance on the consumer market. This means that by number 2 we understand that this sample of SMA was first released in 2012. And a certain washing machine could have been made in 2016, or in any other year, but not earlier than indicated in the code.
Now let's turn our attention to successive sets of letters and numbers and determine what they tell us about technology. In the figure, follow the inscriptions “Letter 1”, “Number 1”, etc.
When deciphering the markings in paragraph “Letter 1”, we see the set W/B/U. What can you tell us about a specific device?
- W - tells us that this washing machine has a commutator motor with a drive belt and an additional function to improve the quality of Eco Bubble washing. With this option, abundant formation of tiny bubbles occurs, due to which detergents have a more active effect on dirt.
- The letter B denotes washing machines with an inverter direct drive motor. That is, there is no belt attaching the motor to the drum. This fact allows you to make the washing process almost silent. And there is no additional bubble option.
- U means that this technology combines the power and reliability of a direct drive motor with the Eco Bubble function.
The next position can be indicated by the numbers 0 or 2. In this case, the first is assigned at 1000 rpm during spin, and 2 - 1200. Please note that if you see 7 in the marking in this paragraph, this will indicate a spin power of 700 rpm , and not about 7 thousand.
“Letter 3” indicates the type of machine panel. So, if you see C, then the equipment is equipped with a display and has 10 programs for selecting the washing mode. Option K means the presence of additional options and allows you to choose from 14 main programs. Additional functions include the ability to program drum self-cleaning and control via a mobile device.
The last point indicates the appearance of the washing machine body. For example, WA is white, and SD is gray. Moreover, in both versions there is a chrome-plated hatch for loading laundry.
Sometimes there are models on which the markings differ from the standard ones.
In this case, you will have to read the labels located on the control panel. We will try to guide you what information you can learn from these data.
The photo shows the panel. Eco Bubble is marked with a red line in the lower right corner. As you can guess, the device is equipped with an additional option to improve the quality of washing. And, based on the data described above, we can determine that this is a commutator motor with a drive belt.
In the second picture, the inscription “Digital Inverter Motor” is highlighted in red. In the marking it corresponds to B. This means that the engine has a drive belt, but there is no bubble function. As you can see, there is no inscription about it on the panel. The inscription “Diamond” in the lower left corner indicates the structural features of the drum. Its name appeared in connection with the shape of the honeycomb, which contributes to gentle washing and preservation of the integrity of things.
From the third image we can determine that the machine has a drive motor and there is an additional Eco Bubble option. This is a combined type of SMA, which corresponds to the letter U in the labeling. We have already described it above. Let's take a closer look at what the part of the panel where the programs are located looks like.
So, on the left you can see the 10 main washing programs. Next is the LED display. And buttons for adjusting the temperature mode, spin power and using additional options.
From the second panel it is clear at first glance that the number of main programs is much larger. This is the K model, which is equipped with a graphic display. The list of additional options is wider and there is a memory function. It allows the washing machine to remember the settings of your favorite program. In addition to the considered marking designations, there are others. They can be seen on a sticker, which is usually located on the front or back of the SMA body. Let's look at these cases using a clear example.
Let's give an example
In fact, figuring out coding on technology is not that difficult. Let's try to do this on a specific instance. For a sample we offer an automatic washing machine “Samsung” WW80J5410GW/LP.
- The first two large letters WW say that this is a washing machine, and not any other household appliance. It happens that D is added to the first letter W. This is necessary to indicate an additional function - drying.
- The next point is the number 80. It gives us information about the maximum load. Specifically in this version it is possible up to 8 kg. Accordingly, if it were written 60, then 6 kg and so on.
- The third position is the letter J. This is another designation of the year of development. In this case, 2015 is designated J, the previous year – N.
- Number 5 encrypts information about the number of programs in the machine. It should be taken into account that a five indicates 7 main washing programs, and an eight already indicates 15.
- The next number 4 indicates the spin power. In our case, this is 1400 rpm.
- Ten denotes the design type of a particular washing machine.
- The color of the hull and loading hatch was coded with the letters GW.
- And the last position reveals the secret of where this technique was produced. In our case, the letters LP indicate the CIS. And when you see the combination EU at the extreme, the manufacturer is located in Europe.
We looked at the most common designations for marking the Samsung SMA, but the most reliable way is to look at the equipment passport. It is not always possible for a salesperson in a store to give a comprehensive answer about the features of a particular device. Having knowledge of how to read the encoding, you will be able to accurately determine all the parameters and options of the purchased product.
