Bosch and Siemens dishwasher markings
When choosing a Bosch or Siemens dishwasher, we inevitably come across the full names of specific models, including markings. But few people know what marking is, and most importantly, what it means in relation to a specific model of Bosch or Siemens dishwashers. Explanation of the marking is usually provided by the manufacturer itself, but the manufacturer does not always bother to correctly translate it into Russian. In this article we will try to decipher the markings of Bosch and Siemens dishwashers and provide explanations for this decoding.
Symbols for general characteristics of the dishwasher
To begin with, we tried to find out how the markings of Bosch dishwashers and Siemens dishwashers differ. It turned out that there are no significant differences; in 99% of cases, the marking characteristics are completely the same. That is why we allowed ourselves to generalize the definitions of markings and present them in a unified form. The main markings that characterize a specific model of Bosch or Siemens dishwashers appear immediately after the brand name.
For example, the Bosch SPS40E12RU dishwasher is marked SPS40E12RU. First, you should look at the first three letters of this designation from left to right, since these are symbols of the general characteristics of dishwashers, containing the most important information.
The first element of the marking is the same in all cases, unless of course we are talking about a dishwasher and not a washing or other machine. If you see a dishwasher in front of you, then the marking will begin with the letter “S”.If we go into detail, we can say that this element is the first letter of the word Spueler, which loosely translated means “a machine designed to care for dishes.”
The second element of the marking of specific models of Bosch or Siemens dishwashers tells us about their typology and generation. In this case, there are options and there are many of them:
- the element “R” denotes dishwashers with a width of 45 cm of the first generation;
- the element “P” denotes dishwashers with a width of 45 cm of the second (last) generation;
- the element “G” denotes standard 60 cm wide machines of the first generation;
- the element “M” denotes 60 cm of a second generation dishwasher;
For your information! Dishwashers of the first generation and second generation differ from each other in a more compact arrangement of parts and often modification of these parts.
- the element “B” denotes a dishwasher whose height differs from the standard one and is more than 86 cm. The width of such machines is 60 cm, they are classified as second-generation dishwashers.
- the element “K” denotes non-standard tabletop models of second-generation dishwashers.
The third element of the marking tells us about the typology of a particular dishwasher model.
- The element “S” means that this model of Bosch and Siemens dishwasher is not built-in.
- Element “I” means that the specified dishwasher model has the ability to be built-in.
- The “V” element means that the machine is completely built into the furniture.
- The “U” element means that this dishwasher model can be built-in and even has its own façade.
Specification symbols
The fourth and fifth characters are elements of the dishwasher model specification that tell us about its completeness. By the fourth character we can determine which software package is available for a particular model of Bosch and Siemens dishwashers.
- If the number is 4, this means that this dishwasher model has only a basic set of programs.
- If the number is 5, this means that the dishwasher has a basic set of programs and additional functions.
- If the number is 6, this means the dishwasher has an expanded set of programs.
The fifth character tells us about the technical equipment of a particular dishwasher model. In this article, we will not give specific examples, since you can read about them in another publication called Symbols on the dishwasher.
Model class
The model class is, in fact, a veiled designation of the price category to which, in the opinion of the manufacturer, this or that model of dishwasher should belong. For Bosch and Siemens dishwashers, there are five categories (aka classes).
- The lower price category is indicated by the letter “E”.
- The price category below average is indicated by the letter “N”.
- The average price category is the letter “M”.
- The upper price category is “T”.
- Elite price category – “U”.
Note! The manufacturer does not specify the specific price of models belonging to the lower or upper price category.
Do not confuse the model class of a dishwasher with its energy consumption class. This is a completely different designation system, by which you can determine how economically a particular model of Bosch and Siemens dishwashers consumes electricity.You can get acquainted with the energy efficiency classes of dishwashers by looking at the picture below.
Where is it produced and where is it shipped?
The last 2 characters of the marking designation tell us in which territory the manufacturer plans to sell this model of Bosch and Siemens dishwashers. There are two main options: RU - means that a specific dishwasher model is planned to be sold in the Russian Federation, EU - means that the dishwasher is planned to be sold in the European Union.
Also of great importance are additional markings, which are usually placed on the packaging of the dishwasher or on its body. These designations tell us where that particular dishwasher was manufactured.
- SAS, SLX, SLF - made in Germany.
- SAE, SOR, SFX - made in Poland.
- SFO - made in Turkey.
- SOT – made in France.
- SLM – made in China.
For your information! Markings indicating the origin of the dishwasher may differ from those above if the dishwasher was made before 2006.
In conclusion, we note that after reading this article, you will be able to decipher the marking designation of any model of Bosch or Siemens dishwashers. However, do not forget to also read the characteristics of the dishwashers; they will be able to tell you much more about the machine you are interested in. Good luck!
