Where to fill the conditioner in the washing machine
Using fabric conditioner to rinse clothes is not a mandatory procedure during washing. Some people have a negative attitude towards it, for some the air conditioner causes allergies, and there are those who do not even know where to pour this product.
It’s good if everything in the machine is intuitive and the manufacturer took care by labeling the powder receiver compartments, but what if not? Therefore, it’s worth figuring out what’s what, or rather what product, where and when to pour it.
Detergent tray in the washing machine
In most front-loading washing machines, the detergent tray is located at the top of the machine on the left, in rare cases on the right. The powder and conditioner compartments in top-loading machines are located directly on the inside of the lid. As a rule, all trays consist of three compartments, differing in size and sometimes color.
- Powder compartment main wash. This compartment is the largest in size. The main part of the powder or liquid detergent is poured into it. It is usually signed like this: II or B.
- Pre-soak powder compartment. This compartment is slightly smaller than the previous one. It contains powder for pre-washing. It is signed: I or A.
- Air conditioner compartment. The smallest compartment of the tray is often made blue. In addition, the conditioner container is removed from the tray itself. Its design is such that the conditioner is not washed off with water during washing. A flower is used to designate this tray.
It is necessary to pour conditioner into the washing machine at the beginning of the wash cycle.Turn on the machine, load the laundry, put the powder and conditioner into the appropriate compartments of the tray, and start the washing mode. If you forgot to add conditioner, you can pour it into the tray immediately before the rinse cycle or after the machine has washed off the powder and started washing.
Some may ask: is it possible to pour fabric softener into the machine drum? It is possible, but it depends in what case. If you need to do an additional rinse after a full wash cycle, when the machine has turned off, you can add conditioner directly to the drum. At the same time, you do not need to pour it on things; use a special container for detergents for this. Otherwise, it may not rinse well and stains will remain on the laundry.
Do not pour conditioner into the drum before washing. There will be no effect from it, since it will be washed away with water.
Features of trays in different models of washing machines
Different models of washing machines have features for dividing the tray into compartments. Let's look at some models of machines with unusual trays.
- ELECTROLUX EWW51486HW is a mid-range washing machine with a detergent drawer with three compartments, of which the rightmost one is for rinse aid.
- Bosch WOT24455O is a mid-class top-loading washing machine. The tray is located on the lid, the rinse aid compartment is in the middle.
- Indesit wiun 105 (CIS) is a front-loading washing machine. The tray of this machine also has three compartments, the one on the right is for air conditioning.
- Samsung eco bubble wf 602 is a washing machine with bubble washing technology. The powder tray of this Samsung machine consists of 3 compartments, of which the bottom one on the right is for rinse aid.
- Zanussi ZWY is a top loading machine. The detergent tray is divided into 4 compartments. The one on the far right is for conditioner, the compartment next to it is for bleach. The other two are for powder in the main and additional wash.
- Siemens - washing machines of this brand have cuvettes for detergents, in which the conditioner compartment has a lid with a painted flower.
- Miele WDA 100 is an expensive washing machine with a three-compartment detergent drawer. The one on the far left is for the air conditioner.
Looking at all the powder receptacles of washing machines, we can say that in general they are similar. In order not to make a mistake about where to pour the rinse aid, you need to read the instructions for the machine. If there is no such thing, then it is easy to establish this experimentally by running a test wash without laundry and pouring rinse aid into one of the compartments. If the rinse aid is washed away after the first start of water, then this is the powder compartment. If not, then this compartment is the one you are looking for.
A few final tips
Whether or not to use conditioner while rinsing is up to each individual to decide. But if you prefer to use conditioner, then dosage must be observed. In the air conditioner compartment of any washing machine there is a mark indicating the maximum amount of rinse aid that can be poured. This mark must not be exceeded.
For your information! It is also not recommended to reduce the amount of rinse aid, since you will not feel the effect from it.
When using fabric softener, pay attention to what type of fabric softener it is, namely concentrated or regular. Concentrated rinse aid is poured 3 times less than usual. To better wash it out of the cuvette, you can dilute this conditioner a little with water.
And one more piece of advice: after using the conditioner, you need to thoroughly rinse the powder tray and the holes through which detergents enter the drum. If this is not done, then subsequently the detergent will remain in the powder receptacle and will not enter the drum.
As for the question of which air conditioner is better, it is impossible to give a definite answer. In general, most of them are universal and suitable for all types of fabrics. However, there are conditioners designed for wool and silk items, black items, etc., as well as conditioners for children's clothes. Such rinses must be used for their intended purpose so as not to be disappointed in their effectiveness.
So, we hope it is now clear where to pour the rinse aid in the washing machine. It's simple - in a special compartment in the powder tray. This compartment is most often indicated by a flower. It is difficult to confuse it with others, just be careful!
Thanks for the info! Very clear and to the point, I quickly figured out what to put where.
The washing machine is a Bosch Max, the markings there are made rather insidiously - even after a fairly thorough inspection, I couldn’t find them. Only after understanding from this article what to look for, I figured it out.
Thanks again.
