Where to place the dryer?
Modern technology is not as demanding on communications as outdated models, so you can install the dryer in almost any convenient place. At the same time, there are many more options for placement in an apartment or house than in the case of a washing machine, but experts do not recommend placing such equipment in different rooms. In addition, the close location of the dryer and washing machine saves time, since it is very easy to transfer laundry from one drum to another without making unnecessary movements. Let's figure out where it's better to put the dryer, and where it doesn't belong.
Drying rooms and options for its placement
Condenser dryer models do not need to be connected to a water supply and not necessarily to a sewer system. It can be installed in any room where there is an electrical outlet. The most important condition is the presence of grounding and a separate circuit breaker. This is explained by the fact that the line experiences significant loads created by equipment during the drying process and in case of an accident, the power must be cut off automatically.
Do not install the dryer in very small, unventilated rooms. Most models generate a lot of thermal energy during operation. If the heat does not find a way out, it will affect the body of the dryer and surrounding objects. As a general rule, the dryer should be placed in a relatively spacious room, at least 2 by 2 meters.
There are different ways to install the device.
- In a row (in a line). The washing machine and dryer are located next to each other if there are suitable conditions for this, and the place is spacious enough. For this purpose, both the kitchen and the hallway, bathroom, and wardrobe are suitable. This option is considered very practical, because the surfaces of the devices on top represent a usable area that can be used effectively. For example, you can mount a shelf or cabinet on top.
Those who want to save space install appliances in the kitchen unit under the worktop.
- In a column (vertically). This arrangement option implies that the equipment is placed on top of each other. The washing machine (which always weighs more) must be placed at the bottom, and the dryer at the top. In this case, the floor must be smooth and durable, preferably concrete. Any unevenness, unsteadiness of floor elements, slippery surfaces will lead to increased vibrations during equipment operation.
The equipment must not be allowed to slip and fall down. It is worth taking all possible precautionary measures to secure the unit; it is not enough to simply place the dryer on a flat surface. If you do not have such experience, it is better to contact a professional master. Special fasteners and caps are installed on the body of the washing machine, onto which the dryer is attached. The structure must be as stable as possible.
Why is a dryer better than a washer dryer?
If the apartment or house is spacious enough and the space allows, it is better to purchase two devices at once. This will allow you to get the most out of both the washing machine and the dryer. Installing a separate dryer has many advantages, which are worth dwelling on in more detail.
First, hybrid models hold much less laundry than a stand-alone dryer. In automatic 2-in-1 machines, the maximum permissible weight of clothes for drying is 2-3 kg less than in the case of washing. If the house has a separate dryer, the entire volume of washed items can be immediately moved into it and dried. This is not only convenient, but also saves a lot of user time.
Stationary dryers always have a large drum. Even if the model belongs to the budget category (for example, Indesit YT CM08 8B for 31 thousand rubles), it will hold from 8 kg. What can we say about premium options, which will include 10 kg of laundry or more.
The above maximum is for cotton, which is lighter than other materials. If you dry jeans, as well as items made from synthetic and mixed fabrics, you will have to load several kilograms less. But even in this case, the hybrid will hold much less than a stationary dryer.
Secondly, the most important advantage of independent drying machines is the abundance of programs. Even for inexpensive models, the number of drying modes will exceed the same figure for mixed-type equipment. This greatly simplifies textile care.
Important! In modern dryers, you can select programs designed for materials and products of a certain type: cotton, wool, outerwear, synthetics, shoes, etc.
Some manufacturers provide additional modes, such as “light ironing”, “express”, “under iron”. There are dryers that ventilate clothes, getting rid of the smell of tobacco, food, and smoke. Some types are capable of treating fabrics with steam, refreshing laundry that has been stored deep in the closet.
There is another undeniable advantage of stationary technology over hybrid technology. Dried items will not wrinkle, because most models have a function to protect the fabric from creases. Even with intensive rotation in the drum, things will not become covered with many folds.
Many machines have a delicate drying mode. When it starts, the drum rotates very slowly and carefully, the laundry does not spin too intensely. Thanks to this feature, not too demanding owners who do not make any special claims to the quality of ironing can save a lot of time and effort.
