Siemens dishwasher error codes
Self-diagnosis of a Siemens dishwasher assumes that the machine stops when a malfunction occurs, and an error code appears on the display. Users who see this for the first time think that the dishwasher is broken and will have to take it in for repairs. However, you should not panic, but rather figure out what the code that appears means, you may be able to fix the problem yourself. To do this, look at the instructions for the washing machine or read this article.
Errors in draining and filling water
We decided to divide all error codes for Siemens dishwashers into two groups. In the first place we included those errors that in most cases can be solved independently, without the involvement of specialists, and they are mainly associated with draining and collecting water.
E3 – error code informing that when filling, water does not reach a certain level within the time allotted by the program. Old machines of this brand stop in this situation, and water is collected until it reaches a certain level. Newer dishwasher models may drain water. The reasons for this work are as follows:
- The Aqua Stop system is faulty;
- the drain pump does not work;
- the filling valve is damaged;
- The water level sensor does not work;
- There is a blockage in the water supply filter.
The first thing to check is the filter located immediately behind the inlet hose at the entrance to the dishwasher and the inlet valve. Then the Aqua Stop hose is checked and, if necessary, replaced. The pressure switch and pump break down less often, the replacement of which will require certain skills.
E5 – error code that occurs when water overflows above the level.In this situation, the cause is a blockage in the water sensor tube, or a breakdown of the sensor itself. In addition, water can still be drawn into the dishwasher; if the water supply valve is stuck in the open position, such a valve must only be replaced.
E8 – error code indicating a small amount of collected water. In this case, the heating element of the dishwasher does not receive a signal to turn on, and the circulation pump cannot “drive” water due to reduced pressure, as a result, the washing process does not begin. A common mistake is low water fill pressure. There may be an error in the operation of the pressure switch.
E15 - error code, when the Aqua Stop protection system is triggered, water most likely has entered the pan. To eliminate error E15, you need to drain the water and find the location of the leak, for example, a leaky connection of hoses and pipes. It happens that the “Aqua stop sticks” float; to fix this, you need to tilt the dishwasher, and then error e15 will disappear.
E16 – appears on the screen when water spontaneously fills the dishwasher tank. The reasons for this may be:
- increased foaming due to an overdose of detergent or its use for other purposes;
- malfunction of the persostat or filler valve.
E17 – an error that occurs when water is added to the dishwasher tank. This error informs about the incorrect operation of the water flow sensor when the water pressure is exceeded. First of all, check the water pressure in the tap, and if necessary, change the flow sensor.
E21 – dishwasher pump fault code. The dishwasher drain pump is blocked and the water does not drain. This is due to either the pump being clogged or worn out.
For your information! In some models of Siemens dishwashers, error E22 occurs, sometimes interspersed with error E24. In 80% of cases, E22 is associated with a clogged filter located at the bottom of the washing chamber. And it very rarely appears when the pump is faulty.
E24 – error code informing about the lack of water drainage. This can happen for one of the reasons:
- the drain hose is kinked;
- clogged drain filter or drain hose;
- sewer blockage.
Error codes related to water heating and sensors
Now let's look at the error codes of Siemens brand dishwashers, which inform about more complex faults.
- E1 – error code that occurs when the water is overheated or not heated. Most likely, the cause is a malfunction of the heating element. The heating element triac on the control module may also fail. Most rarely, a water heating error occurs when the pressure switch or fill valve malfunctions.
- E2 – temperature sensor (NTC sensor) does not work. This sensor in Siemens dishwashers is located inside the heating element; replacing it is not so difficult if you know how to disassemble a dishwasher.
- E4 – error code indicating a faulty flow switch. This switch is located under the heating element, its task is to distribute water into the rocker arms. The cause of the error may be either a clogged switch or a breakdown of the motor that controls the operation of the switch.
- E6 – error code for malfunction of the water turbidity sensor (Aquasensor). The aquasensor monitors the turbidity of the water during the initial rinsing of dishes. Thanks to this sensor, the number of rinsing cycles can be reduced. It is located next to the heating element.
- E9 – heating element malfunction code.This error is typical for dishwashers with flow-through heating elements. You need to check the unit with a multimeter and, if necessary, replace the heating element with a new one.
- E11 is an error code that occurs when the dishwasher operates without heating the water. This indicates that you need to check the temperature sensor, electrical wiring, or electronic board.
- E14 – error code associated with incorrect operation of the water flow sensor. The dishwasher can still work. In this case, professional diagnostics of the dishwasher is required. Read about self-repair in the article. Siemens dishwasher repair.
Important! Error code E18 is the only one that does not require any action. On the contrary, you need to wait until the dishwasher finishes working on its own, and you cannot turn off the power supply.
- E27 is an error code informing the user about a decrease in voltage in the electrical network. Most often, this error occurs when the network is overloaded in the evening. In this situation, you need to check the voltage in the network, and for normal uninterrupted operation of the unit, install a voltage stabilizer, which can save the machine from repair.
So, there are not many codes indicating malfunctions in a Siemens dishwasher. The reasons for some of them are similar, so you need to be careful when identifying a malfunction, and in case of difficulty, contact a specialist. Otherwise, you may not fix the car, but break it.
