How to wash a saucepan in the dishwasher

washing pans in PMMIt would seem that it’s so difficult to put a pan in the dishwasher and start the washing program? But in fact, even this simple operation must be done wisely. First you need to correctly correlate the size of the pan with the size of the basket for dishes in the PMM, then you need to figure out which pans can be washed in the dishwasher and which cannot. And finally, you need to figure out how to properly install the pan in the basket so that it can be washed perfectly. Actually, all this will be discussed in our article.

The main thing is that it fits

Many dishwasher users argue this way, saying that if a pan fits into the dishwasher even sideways, it can be washed. But this, of course, is not true. The pan must fit into the upper or lower basket without even touching the upper spray arm with its edge. Incorrect placement of the pan inside the dishwasher can result in:

  • sprinkler breakdown;
  • overflow and activation of the self-diagnosis system;
  • poor quality of washing.

Good cleaning quality can only be ensured by correct installation of the pan.

How to install correctly?

Now let's figure out how to properly place pots in the dishwasher. We have already decided that it is impossible to load pots sideways into baskets. The fact is that the sprinklers “hit” from above and below. If the pan stands on its side, the water mixed with detergent will not touch the contaminated surfaces and the pan will remain dirty.

You also can’t place the pan upside down, because during washing it will quickly fill with water and the machine will freeze without completing the program completely. You can only place any pan, no matter how big or how small, upside down. In this case, a powerful jet from the upper spray arm will wash the outside of the pan, and an even more powerful jet from the lower spray arm will wash the inside of the pan.

If the pots are small, they can be placed upside down in the basket, close to each other. You should not place any dishes, even small ones, on the bottom of the pan. As a result, the pan and the item you placed on it will not be washed. So, let's start washing.

  1. Turn on the dishwasher and open the washing chamber door.
  2. We clean the pan from any remaining food and place it in the lower basket upside down. If your pan is large, you can remove the top basket to create more space.

You need to make sure that the pan is made of dishwasher safe material.

  1. Select a washing program. The intensive washing program is best; other programs may not cope with their task. If Whirlpool dishwasher or any other there is a “Pre-soak” function, activate it. In this case it will come in handy.location of the pan in the PMM
  2. We arrange other dishes so that they do not interfere with washing the pan.
  3. Add detergent and rinse aid, close the PMM door and start the program.
  4. We take out clean dishes.

What pots should not be put in the dishwasher?

We remind you once again that not all dishes can be washed in the dishwasher.If this is your first time putting your pans in the dishwasher, make sure they are made of a material that will not rust or react with the detergent. For example, you cannot wash aluminum cookware in a PMM. There will be dark stains on the aluminum pan after washing. Then it will be very difficult or even impossible to wipe off these stains. The pan will have to be thrown away.

Also, do not wash pots that are made of rusting metal. This is especially true for pots that already have light traces of rust. The detergent is very aggressive and it will greatly accelerate the process of metal degradation, so it is better to wash rusting pots by hand, and then completely “write them off.”

So, we told you how to properly wash pots in a PMM. It is important to remember a few simple rules and in the future you will never encounter problems of this kind. Good luck!
