Technical characteristics of the Malyutka washing machine
Despite the abundance of automatic washing machines, “Baby” ones continue to be in demand among some housewives due to their compact dimensions, operation without running water, lightness and comparative cheapness. What technical characteristics of the Malyutka washing machine made this device so famous?
Model Baby 2
So, the official name of this model: SM-1 “Baby-2”. Allows you to wash and rinse clothes at home like any other washing machine. The unit is very easy to store and operate; it does not require a large amount of water and performs its functions efficiently.
Main parameters of the model:
- drum loading is 1 kg, while the weight of the machine itself does not exceed 10 kg;
- tank volume no more than 28 liters;
- consumes no more than 5 W of power;
- average number of activator revolutions per minute – 1360;
- maximum dimensions – 570x450x420 mm;
- average electricity consumption is 0.05 kilowatts per hour per kilogram of laundry.
Important! Malyutka-2 supports two main operating modes: direct washing, which lasts no more than 5 minutes, and rinsing, the cycle length of which is just over 4 minutes. The pause between washing and rinsing is at least 3 minutes.
Normal operation of the unit is ensured by a voltage of about 220V AC with a frequency of 50 Hz.
Almost all the main elements of the Malyutka, with the exception of the electronics, are made of plastic, namely: the tank, the lid and the casing - a case for electrical equipment and the engine. The activator body is attached to a threaded flange (a cuff is also installed here) contained in the casing, and the activator itself is screwed onto the motor shaft.The machine's on/off button is a switch on the casing labeled “1/0” or “on/off.”
Some of the later machines are equipped with latches that hold the lid in the groove during washing. However, on early models, lids without latches fit comfortably into the top of the tank.
Baby 425/465
The parameters of these models actually coincide with the characteristics of the “second Malyutka”, but there are still some differences.
- The nominal tank load is 1 kg.
- No spin.
- Washing time ranges from 1 to 6 minutes.
- Power consumption no more than 250 W.
- Tank capacity is 27 liters.
The machines are controlled mechanically using a time relay. The SM-425 has the ability to adjust the wash duration. The wash cycle ends automatically. The water from the tank drains into the drain hole through the supplied drain hose. The dimensions of the 425 and 465 models are different. HxWxD 425 – 380x430x430 mm, and for 465 – 472x406x476 mm.
Summary consumer analysis
So, the key advantages of the Malyutka series models are ease of operation, which will be described below, small size (especially important for apartments with minimal square footage), low price and low energy and water consumption. As for the quality of washing, it is generally high, although it may depend on the chosen detergent, the quality of the water, and even the final washing time. The laundry is washed carefully, and models 225 and 425 even have a reverse function, that is, changing the direction of movement of the disc. As a result, clothes curl less and do not wear out during the washing process.
How to operate activator type machines?
- Pour water at the desired temperature into the container.
- Add detergent, stir and dissolve.
- Place laundry in the tank and cover with the lid.
- Turn the relay or activation knob.
- Once the cycle is complete, you can either run the water drain or use the powder solution to wash darker items to save money.
Attention! The 465 model differs from its “brothers” in that the activator is located in the bottom, and not on the side, which allows the drum to be loaded not completely and thus saves on water and powder consumption.
As for rinsing, you can rinse clothes as many times as you like, but each time you will have to pour clean water into the tank. Therefore, it is recommended to use a soap solution to wash children's clothes; it is more easily washed out of the fibers. Finally, a significant disadvantage of all Malyutoks is the lack of any protection against water leakage, but, as practice shows, it pays off with other advantages.
