Where is the pump located in the washing machine?
Removing the pump from the housing is easy. The main thing is to know where the drain pump is located in the washing machine and how to remove it from its seat correctly. All necessary tips and dismantling instructions are given below.
Ways to remove the pump
In most modern models of washing machines, the pumps are located in the same parts of the body. But they are extracted in different ways. This is explained by the design features of machines produced by different manufacturers.
In Ardo, Samsung, Indesit, LG, Beko devices, the drain pumps are removed through the bottom of the housing. Owners of household appliances of the indicated brands can use the following instructions to dismantle the pump:
- disconnect the washing machine from the sewer system, water supply and electrical network;
- take a slotted screwdriver. Use it to open the technical hatch, which is located in the lower right part of the hull;
- To prevent water from spilling, place a container under the device and put a rag. When the drain filter opens, water flows out;
- remove the garbage filter. To do this, unscrew the bolt and turn the handle slightly;
- look inside through the bottom of the body. If the pump is not visible, it is better to place the washing machine on its left side;
- unscrew the screws holding the drain pump;
- Turn the pump counterclockwise so that it seems to be recessed into the body of the machine. The device should disconnect;
- disconnect the wires, remove the pipes, loosen the clamps.
After these manipulations, the pump is easily removed.
Important! It is prohibited to place the device on the right side of the case. If you do this, the remaining water from the pipes and tank will flood the electronics.The equipment may fail!
Why take out the pump?
Experts say that the drain pump is the heart of the washing machine. Without it, it is impossible to start water circulation. But, like the heart, the device is susceptible to damage. They are usually caused by dirt that gets in with waste water. Therefore, for the smooth operation of the equipment, the pump must be cleaned regularly. The following causes contamination of the drain pump:
- use of low-quality laundry detergents;
- influx of dirty or too hard water;
- ingress of small parts of clothing, hair, coins.
To prevent the pump from clogging, taking forgotten items out of your pockets and sewing buttons on well is not enough. When washing, it is recommended to place items in special bags. It is also important to regularly remove and wash the debris filter.
Proper pump cleaning
Knowing where the pump is located, you can clean the device yourself. It is necessary to remove dirt from the impeller. To do this correctly, you need to perform a number of steps.
- Unscrew the screws on the sides using a slotted screwdriver.
- Find a ring with blades. Remove hair, threads and other debris from it.
- Check that the part rotates freely.
- Proceed to clean the pump seat, which is called the snail. It should also be cleaned.
- Remove all debris and remove scale from the snail.
- Assemble the pump and install it.
Note! After cleaning and installing the drain pump, you need to carry out a test wash. With its help, they check whether leaks have formed and whether the device is working correctly.
If the pump is installed efficiently, the washing machine should not make unusual sounds or stop during operation.Constant care of the drain pump and removal of dirt and debris from it and neighboring elements of the machine can extend the life of the equipment significantly.
