Where is the pressure switch located in the Indesit washing machine?
With error “F05”, problematic dialing or continuous draining, the Indesit washing machine signals problems with the pressure switch. In this case, it does not necessarily require its replacement - most often the device just needs to be cleaned and adjusted. To assess the scale of the problem and begin repairs, you need to figure out where the water level sensor is located in the Indesit washing machine. Many home-grown masters have heard about it only in theory, without meeting it in reality. Our publication will help you get to know the sensor better.
Search for a sensor
There will be no problems finding the pressure switch. The sensor is difficult to confuse with other elements of the washing machine and is easy to detect. You just need to find the plastic “washer” attached to the wall of the machine on the left side. But first you will have to remove the top cover of the washing machine. To do this, we act like this.
- On the back panel of the unit we find two self-tapping screws holding the cover and unscrew them with a Phillips screwdriver.
- We stand behind the machine and, lifting the back of the cover, move it towards us until the latches “release” the part.
There is no need to pull the top cover too hard, since Indesit washing machines have tight latches that break if there is excessive resistance.
- If we can’t move the lid, we return to the end of the machine and, pressing on the lid, try to push it towards the back wall.
Trying to pry off the cover with a screwdriver or knife is strongly discouraged. Such an initiative will not help, but on the contrary, it will only break the latches and add to the hassle of repairs. The main thing is not to rush, but to patiently push the panel in one direction. As soon as it leaves its place, you can look inside the machine and easily see the pressure switch.
Signs of sensor failure?
You can verify that the pressure switch is faulty by the behavior of the washing machine. So, if the system displays error F05, then the probability of sensor failure is 70%. When there are obvious problems with water intake or drainage, the value rises to 85%.
But it’s better not to rely on this 30-15%, and immediately start diagnosing the device. The fact is that a faulty sensor will definitely make itself known during the washing process and give rise to new problems. Moreover, the cost of the necessary repairs will increase significantly, since the heating element, pump and control board will suffer.
Checking the element
Knowing what the pressure switch looks like and where it is located, you don’t have to put off diagnostics. Moreover, the verification procedure will not cause difficulties. You just need to find a tube of the same diameter as the fitting, unhook the pressure hose from the sensor, place it near the device and blow lightly. Then we listen. If the pressure switch is working properly, then the contacts will definitely work and 2-3 clicks will be heard. When the device is “silent”, repair will not help - only a full replacement.
Diagnostics continues by inspecting the part. It is necessary to check whether the housing with hoses is damaged and whether the tube is clogged. It is likely that excessive deposits knock down the sensor, so we wash it under running water. Lastly, we check the pressure switch with a multimeter. We turn on the tester in resistance mode, attach the probes to the contacts and evaluate the indicators. Normally, the values change when the sensor is triggered.
You can try to adjust a faulty sensor. To do this, tighten the bolts at the contacts, determining the correct parameters for each program. But it’s better not to experiment, but to entrust this task to professionals. Knowing the location of the pressure switch, you can monitor its performance and periodically check it according to the scheme described above. This is done simply, but protects against larger-scale consequences.
