How to install an extra rinse in a washing machine?
In theory, after the end of the main wash cycle, almost every washing machine provides a rinse in order to wash out the remaining powder from the fabric fibers. However, in practice it turns out that not all units cope well with this, and housewives begin to become interested in how to turn on additional rinsing in the washing machine. Is this possible, and if so, how to configure it?
Activating the secondary rinse
The extra rinse program is activated on many washing machines by pressing a single button. For example, LG washing machines have such a key and it’s called “Super Rinse”. If you click on it, during the program the machine will rinse the laundry twice instead of once.
More advanced models boast an even more sophisticated system of additional rinse settings. For example, with SM from Samsung, the user can independently select the number of rinses from 1 to 5, before starting the wash by setting the required amount along with the spin speed and wash temperature.
Important! In ordinary washing machines, which most people use, you can also activate the extra rinse function. After washing, you need to start the “Rinse” mode, turn off the spin and start the machine.
The fact that machines have become worse at rinsing out powder is not so much the fault of washing machine manufacturers as of powder manufacturers. Recently, the volume of low-quality products among detergents has been growing.As a result, poorly soluble granules eat into the fibers of the fabric and cannot be washed, and the quality of washing suffers, since the washing solution is less saturated with active substances.
If you happen to wash things with just such a powder, then it is not necessary to rewash the clothes. It is enough just to run the rinse program several times in a row or set the secondary rinse function once or twice. Your clothes will be rinsed in cool water for an hour, after which all allergens and other unwanted elements of the powder will be completely washed away. Repeated rinsing will cope even with baby’s clothes washed with poor powder.
However, especially homely housewives are interested not only in how well the additional rinsing copes with its function, but also in how much water the machine consumes. Will there be huge overpayments for utilities at the end of the month? In reality, of course, more water is spent, but not much, in any case, it will have little effect on the wallet. And it’s better not to save on water than to later pay large sums to an allergist or dermatologist after wearing poorly rinsed underwear.
Extra rinse symbol
It happens that the buttons on the CM panel are not labeled, but are indicated by schematic images. How then to find the right key? Regardless of the age, brand and country of manufacturer of the washing machine, the rinse function bears the same designation: a container with a wavy line or dashes depicting the surface of the water. If the washer is old and all the markings have long been erased, you can find the rinse option as follows:
- find the bottom of the selector (last or penultimate mode);
- try to start the unit;
- if the machine immediately begins to draw a large amount of water, and the washing time is indicated as 10-15 minutes, then you have achieved your goal.
The found rinse program can be marked with a marker so that you don’t lose it later and remember where the key is located.
There is another tricky way to restore erased symbols on the CM panel. Take a look at the instructions, where the program selection stage is usually accompanied by drawings and images of the panel. Look at where the desired button, indicator light, or something else should be located, and find it on your panel. Run the process and check that the mode is found correctly.
