Dishwasher cord length

Dishwasher cord lengthManufacturers usually do not think about user convenience, concentrating only on saving materials, which is why the length of the dishwasher power cord is often insufficient. In such conditions, consumers often suffer, because after purchasing a “home assistant” it turns out that the cord simply does not reach the nearest outlet. It may also not be possible to install a new device next to the outlet, which is why you have to spend time and effort replacing the wire. It would be much better to study in advance the lengths of the standard cords of the most famous dishwashers, and choose the one that will suit your home.

Let's measure the power cords of the dishwashers

Dishwashing appliance cords vary greatly in length, but cannot be longer than a certain length. This is because there is a rule that a standard dishwasher cord cannot be longer than 1.7 meters. It can be smaller, for example, built-in PMMs usually have power cords 1.2 meters long. Free-standing devices are most often equipped with longer wires - 1.5 and 1.7 meters. Ultimately, it all depends on the type of dishwasher, series and brand.

  • The Gorenje GV62040 built-in full-size machine, which can simultaneously wash 13 sets of dishes, has a very short cord - only 1.2 meters.
  • The narrow, fully built-in Korting KDI 45570 machine, designed for 10 place settings, comes with a 1.3 meter long cord.
  • The compact, also desktop, dishwasher Weissgauff TDW 4006, capable of simultaneously cleaning 6 sets of dishes, is equipped with a 1.5 meter cord.Weissgauff TDW 4006
  • Finally, the narrow freestanding Hansa ZWM416WH machine for 9 place settings also gives the user the opportunity to freely choose the installation location - its wire reaches a length of 1.5 meters.

Basically, only manufacturers of free-standing units can provide a decent cable length. However, even 1.5 meters may not be enough if it turns out that the nearest free outlet is located 2-3 meters away.

If the cord is not long enough, experts advise not to use extension cords under any circumstances, as this is very dangerous due to the high load of the PMM.

If the standard cord is not enough, then it will be much better to replace it with a longer cord. Any service center specialist will be happy to do such work for you, but if this is not possible, then the element can be replaced yourself. However, in this case, you will have to forget about the warranty on the dishwasher, because if you change the cord yourself, the warranty will be void.

How to replace the cord yourself?

Replacing the PMM wire is far from the most troublesome procedure, but even for this it is worth setting aside an hour of free time and a whole set of necessary tools. Purchase a power cord of the required length, making sure that it can withstand the load that your dishwasher model creates. After this, prepare electrical tape, a screwdriver and a knife, and then get to work.

  • First of all, make sure that the power supply to the machine is turned off, the water supply is turned off and all hoses are disconnected.power cord
  • Unfold the device and find the place where the cord is installed.
  • Unscrew the bolts that hold the technical hatch and open it.
  • Loosen the screw fastening of the interference filter, then move it away and lift it up.
  • Squeeze the inner clips of the plastic stopper and push it out.
  • Now we move the cord and then push it inside, which will give free access to the filter.
  • At this stage, you can disconnect the protective cover and disconnect the wire contacts.

Be sure to take a few photos of connecting the contacts so that you can connect the cable back correctly later.

  • We disconnect the contacts, among which the green ones are grounding, the black or brown ones are the phase, and the blue ones are the “neutral”.
  • The final stage is to open the terminal and release the wire from the household appliance.

Installation of the extended power cord is carried out according to the same instructions in reverse order.
