How to quickly dry jeans after washing?

How to quickly dry jeans after washingAfter a full wash, denim will not dry in 5 minutes - dense material will require at least a day. First, the water will drain from your pants, and then it will slowly evaporate. Elastic bands, belt loops, embroidery, and pockets take especially long to get rid of moisture. But you can speed up the process if you improve the drying conditions. It remains to understand how to quickly dry jeans after washing and how long it will take.

Squeeze well

The easiest way to speed up the drying of jeans is to thoroughly wring out the item. It is better to proceed using a washing machine: place the product in the drum and start the spin cycle at around 1000 revolutions or more. The machine will spin up and “knock” the moisture out of the denim fibers.

There is only one “but” - some models of jeans cannot be pressed at high speeds. As a rule, manufacturers limit spinning if there are decorative elements or abrasions on the pants. It’s better not to risk it and read the label on the product before drying.

To speed up the drying of your jeans, you can spin them at 1000 rpm in the washing machine.

If automatic spinning is prohibited, then you can go the other way and spin the jeans using towels. The procedure is as follows:

  • lay a dry terry towel, diaper or sheet on the table;
  • put wet jeans on the canvas;
  • cover the denim with a second dry towel;
  • roll a roll or form a bundle;
  • wait until the outer towels get wet;
  • replace wet towels with dry ones;Jeans can be dried with towels
  • repeat steps “5” and “6” at least 4 times.

The towels will absorb most of the water from the fibers, which will speed up the drying process.What was started is completed by hanging the jeans on the balcony, and the pants are clinging to a rope by the belt or “ankles”. It is important to protect the item from direct sunlight and turn it inside out, as ultraviolet radiation will ruin the color of the item.

Heating or “Vetroduy”

There is no balcony in winter, but there is central heating, which is very effective for drying jeans. It is enough to lay the raw denim on a hot radiator and do not touch it for 2 hours. Afterwards, the pants are removed, shaken and, turning over, returned to the radiator. After 2-3 hours the item is completely dry. The advantage is that the clothes warm up gradually and the fibers are not damaged. The main thing is not to forget about drying the product, otherwise the canvas will dry out and become hard and unpleasant to the touch.

In summer, you can resort to using another radiator - an electric heater. The procedure for using it will be identical with one difference - leaving an electrical appliance covered with an item without control is prohibited! You need to constantly be nearby, turn the jeans over and adjust the degree of heating. Remember that this method is a fire hazard!

Electric heaters that are running and covered with clothing should not be left unattended - this is a fire hazard!

It is much safer and more reliable to use a so-called wind blower at home. We proceed like this:

  • hang denim on a chair or on a floor dryer;dry on a radiator or oil heater
  • measure 30 cm;
  • install a wind blower - a fan that supplies hot air;
  • turn on the last one.

The wind blower ensures constant circulation of warm air, which accelerates the process of water evaporation. If you adjust the heating temperature of the electrical appliance and turn the jeans over, drying will only take a few hours. A room air conditioner is used in a similar way, the flow of which is directed onto a wet product.

Iron soleplate and electric dryer

There is a special device for drying jeans - an electric dryer. As a rule, many people have such a unit, but it is not used for its intended purpose. It is easy to operate: unfold the pants, place the heating elements inside and plug them in. There is no need to control the process, since the device works autonomously and safely. It is enough to note the time and after a few hours you will have dry clothes.

If you don’t have an electric dryer, you’ll have to iron it. We set up an ironing board, cover it with a terry towel, put wet jeans on top, wrong side up, and cover everything with a thick diaper or sheet. Afterwards, heat up the iron and begin ironing. As soon as the top sheet gets wet, it must be removed and replaced with a dry one. At this time, the pants shake and cool down. The sequence is repeated until the trousers are completely dry. It is important to turn off the steam supply on the device, otherwise the percentage of humidity will increase.the soleplate of the iron will help

For the iron method to work, the heating temperature must be adjusted correctly. Rough and thick fabric allows ironing at maximum degrees, and thin items made from stretch can become deformed due to being under a hot sole for a long time. It’s better not to take risks and start drying from the first division.

Hair dryer

A hairdryer is also good for drying jeans at home. Its advantage is that you can direct the air flow to any place and make heating as uniform as possible. But the drying speed depends entirely on the power of the device.

It is not recommended to keep the hair dryer turned on for a long time - the device overheats and breaks.

Dry trousers as follows:

  • turn the jeans inside out and straighten them along the length;
  • fix it on hangers and hang it in the bathroom;
  • turn on the hairdryer to medium temperature and start drying: gradually move the device from top to bottom, covering the entire area of the product;
  • after 7-10 minutes, turn off the hair dryer and let it “rest” (prolonged use leads to overheating of the device);
  • during a break, shake the denim and turn it inside out;gently dry with a hairdryer
  • we take on the trouser legs, lowering the device inside each trouser leg;
  • We monitor the air filter of the hair dryer, which should always be located outside;
  • As soon as the main part of the fabric has dried, we begin to work on difficult areas - belts, pockets, stripes.

Blow-drying is effective, but difficult: your hands are under constant tension and get tired quickly. The disadvantage will be that the device consumes a large amount of electricity. Another “minus” is the risk of the device overheating and failure.

Oven

If you don’t have a hairdryer or iron at home, and you need to dry your jeans quickly, then the most extreme option is the oven. In the oven, the moisture will evaporate almost at lightning speed, but the risks are extremely high. Before deciding to take such a step, you should remember the possible dangers.

  1. Fire. Using the oven for other purposes is extremely dangerous - there is a high probability that the jeans will catch fire and endanger the property, life and health of residents.
  2. Tissue damage. The oven will not ensure uniform drying; on the contrary, some areas will remain wet, while others will dry out and scorch.Should you dry jeans in the oven?

The drying process itself occurs as follows. Rolled jeans are placed in a closet that has been washed and heated to 120 degrees.The door remains ajar, and every 5-6 minutes the pants are taken out, inspected and turned over. You cannot throw your trousers without supervision - a fire may start within 10 minutes, be careful! It is better not to wait for complete drying, but to finish drying the item outside by hanging it nearby.

Jeans drying speed

When drying naturally, denim takes 1-2 days on average. Using the methods listed below, you can speed up the drying of jeans in either up to 6 hours or up to 30 minutes. Let's look at how much time it will take in more detail.

  • 30-40 minutes. Jeans dry faster in the oven, but the price for speed is very high - it is dangerous, risky and requires constant monitoring.
  • 60 minutes. The iron will do the job in an hour, but you will have to work hard and risk the fabric, since prolonged ironing is detrimental to denim fibers.
  • 1,5 hour. Drying evenly with a hair dryer: difficult and fraught with damage to the device.
  • 1-2 hours. “Drying” mode on the machine.
  • 3-4 hours. Batteries or an electric dryer, which, despite all the advantages, threaten to dry out the fabric.
  • 4-5 hours. A fan takes longer to dry jeans, but is safer for the fabric.
  • 5-6 hours. This is how long jeans need to dry after a spin cycle on a washing machine.

Natural drying of jeans lasts at least a day, but ensures safe and uniform evaporation of moisture.

Regularly drying jeans using strong spinning and heating devices is highly not recommended. Excessive heating and drying weakens the fibers, deforms the structure of the fabric and leads to loss of color. It’s better not to rush and give preference to natural drying - then the item will last many times longer.
