Resetting the program on a Samsung washing machine
Very often there is a situation in which you urgently need to stop the washing machine in order to add forgotten items to it, check the pockets, or change the incorrectly selected operating cycle. All this can be done by resetting the program on your Samsung washing machine. Making such a reboot is very simple if you know the correct procedure, which we will tell you about today.
Correct program reset
Regardless of why exactly you need a reset, the machine should be stopped correctly. This even applies to situations where it just froze. This is due to the fact that a sudden power outage or other emergency procedures can damage the control module of the “home assistant”, which is why it will require either complex repairs or a complete replacement of the control module, and its price can reach half the cost of the SM. To prevent this from happening, strictly follow the following instructions:
- hold down the “Start” key for 4 seconds;
- after that, the indicators on the control panel of the machine will light up green for a short time;
- When the indicators stop lighting, the washing will stop.
If you have an old Samsung washing machine, then you need to set the programmer to the neutral position.
If everything is done according to the instructions, the device will stop working. If at this moment the machine is in the field of view, then you can see how the lights on it turn on and off. If there are no such signals, then this indicates a breakdown, which the washing machine will report with a separate error signal. In this case, you will have to reboot the device according to this cheat sheet.
- Place the programmer in the first position.
- Press the Stop/Start key for 5 seconds.
- Unplug the machine.
- After a couple of minutes, reconnect the unit to the power supply and start the wash.
If even after these manipulations the washing machine does not start working, you should immediately remove the plug from the socket.
Reset after fault code
It is not always possible to save the instructions for household appliances, and without them it is almost impossible to understand the cause of an error on the display. Just in case you don’t have a user manual at hand, we have prepared an analysis of the most common mistakes that happen with modern Samsung washing machines.
- This error is related to the pressure switch. The problem may be a chipped or damaged level switch tube, a disconnected, clogged or pinched tube, a broken level switch or control module, or damaged connections or element wires.
- This code indicates damage to the engine winding, broken contacts of the tacho or electric motor. In addition, it is worth considering the possibility of the electric motor becoming wedged due to a foreign object getting into it.
- Thus, the machine signals that the drum is overloaded, which is why the engine cannot work normally. The problem may also be faulty motor contacts or damage to the tachometer.
- The code indicates that the tachogenerator signal is too weak, which may be due to a breakdown of the generator itself or damage to the contacts.
If you decide to change damaged contacts with your own hands, do not forget to first take a photo of the correct connection of the wires so that you have an example at hand.
- Another problem is with bad module contacts.Most often it is associated with incorrect signals from the tachometer or with displacement of the electric motor elements.
- Reports damage to the electric motor or motor circuit, problems with the tachogenerator, or a violation of the integrity of the contacts.
- If this error appears on the display, then you have mixed up the cold or hot water hoses. If there is no water supply, then either the hose is disconnected, or there is a hole in it, it is pinched somewhere, there is a broken contact with the filler valve, or there is simply a foreign object in it.
- This error prompts you to report that the water is too hot during drying, up to 70 degrees Celsius and above. If this happened, then most likely the hot and cold water hoses were mixed up.
- A similar error, but it does not apply to drying, but to delicate washing. Appears in a situation where the machine records the water temperature above 50 degrees.
- Appears after the device detects problems in the drainage system. The cause may be a breakdown of the impeller, a blockage in the drain hose, or the presence of debris in the drain tract. In addition, this may indicate poor contact of the drain pump or a breakdown of other components of the SM.
- Signal about problems with the machine's engine. Appears when the tachometer fails, causing the drum to rotate incorrectly. It also cannot be ruled out that the motor contacts are damaged or the control circuits are not functioning properly.
- 13E (AE/AC/AC6). Indicates that there is no signal between the control boards. In this case, you need to study the functioning of the connections and connectors. If necessary, you will have to replace the control or display module.
If several options for writing errors are indicated, then these are different options for writing codes for different Samsung models.
- CE (AC/AC6).It reports that the temperature before draining exceeds 55 degrees, which is why the machine cannot drain the waste liquid into the sewer. This can happen in a situation where a washing mode with high water heating was selected, or the inlet hose was mistakenly connected to the hot water tap. It also cannot be ruled out that the temperature sensor has broken down and is showing incorrect readings.
- FE (FC/SDC). Warns of problems in the ventilation system. This could be either damage to the wiring or failure of the fan or starting capacitor. You won’t be able to detect the problem with your own hands, so you need to either replace the capacitor, or check for grease in the fan bearings, plus make sure that its blades do not jam during operation.
- OE (OF). Message about water overflow. It may appear due to clogging of the pressure switch tube, foreign objects entering the filling valve, and also as a result of failure of the water level sensor.
- Hot. This error appears only in machines with a clothes drying function, and signals a high temperature level. If it appears on the display, then you should check the heating element circuit, whether the temperature sensor is intact, and whether its connectors and circuits are damaged.
- E4 (UE/UB). The last error in our selection signals that the laundry has gathered in a heap, twisted among itself, there is too much of it in the drum, or vice versa - too little. To fix it, you just need to lay out the clothes correctly and continue the work cycle.
It is not necessary to know by heart all the common washing machine errors; you just need to have the decoding at hand.If you know the designation of trouble codes, you can easily determine the cause of the breakdown and try to deal with it yourself, without resorting to the help of service center specialists.
