Which is better: Bosch or LG washing machine?
Choosing a washing machine from two specific brands, such as Bosch or LG, is much easier than choosing from all the washing machines on the market. However, even in this case, many questions and doubts may arise about which machine is more reliable. Let's try to compare Bosch and LG washing machines to find out which is better?
Manufacturer and type of washing machine
First of all, you need to compare the technical characteristics of the washing machines, their “filling”, build quality, and only then make a choice. Let's start with the manufacturer. Most washing machines under the Bosch brand available on the Russian market are manufactured in Russia, but there are models assembled in Germany and Slovakia. Most LG washing machines are also assembled in Russia, but there are also machine models from China. Undoubtedly, washing machines from Germany are considered the most reliable, this is confirmed by service center technicians. But Russian-assembled washing machines often end up being repaired, regardless of the brand.
If we talk about reliability, the weak point of Bosch washing machines is the control module, but for LG it is the drain pump. It is impossible to predict which washing machine will break down faster. But repairing the second one will cost much less and is easier to carry out.
Next, we compared the loading type of washing machines. It turned out that Bosch brand washing machines come in both front-facing and vertical. But LG does not have top-loading washing machines. This is another small plus in favor of the German brand, since top-loading machines are narrower and easier to fit into a small bathroom. In addition, “vertical” chairs are popular with those who have back problems and cannot bend over.
For your information! Bosch top-loading washing machines are manufactured in Slovakia.
The next feature we noticed is the type of machine depending on the installation. If you only need a built-in washing machine, then you will have to consider models from Bosch without any options, since there are no built-in ones among LG machines.
Programs and additional options
Now let’s compare the functionality and capacity of the units.
- LG washing machines can have a load of 4 to 17 kg of laundry, which is quite impressive;
- Bosch machines are produced with a capacity of 5 to 9 kg of laundry.
As you can see, the difference is noticeable, so if you need a very large unit, then you will have to choose an LG machine. By and large, for a large family, a unit with a load of 7-9 kg is sufficient, and both manufacturers have enough of these.
As for the set of programs, it is very difficult to compare. Generally speaking, both some and other representatives have a basic set of modes. According to this criterion, you need to choose based on the needs in a particular mode; some of the programs may turn out to be completely unnecessary and useless. Machines from the same price category will have the same number of programs, although they will differ in purpose and duration. The drying function is also available on both machines. However, we note that the manufacturer has a larger selection of washing and drying machines LG.
Let's say a few words about the technologies being introduced. LG manufacturers have introduced steam technology in the latest models of machines. Functions such as “Refresh” and “Steam Wash” were praised by users.
But Bosch manufacturers have developed 3D AquaSpar technology, which involves additional water injection through the drum cuff. This speeds up the process of getting the laundry wet. In addition, Bosch washing machines are capable of dispensing detergents.
Which machine washes better?
The quality of washing is an important criterion when choosing a washing machine. In order to find out which machine washes better, we turned to the results of a test conducted by the Roskontrol Consumer Rights Protection Society. For testing, they took washing machines from six brands, including budget washers made in Russia from Bosch and LG.
The experiment consisted of loading the drum of each machine with 80% of the maximum allowable weight with cotton fabric. 6 different types of stains were specially applied to the fabric, including berry, meat and grass stains. Washing was carried out on the “Cotton” mode at 60 degrees. The result was the following: the Bosch washing machine finished washing almost an hour earlier than the LG machine, which led to an unsatisfactory result, since it could not cope with the cherry stains. The fabric sample washed in an LG machine was perfectly clean.
For your information! Saving the consumption of water, detergent, and electricity can lead to a deterioration in the quality of washing, and then repeated washing is inevitable. Therefore, the efficiency in the case of washing machines should be reasonable.
During the test, experts also assessed the quality of the spin cycle. Despite the fact that the maximum number of revolutions for the washers was different, this did not affect the results. She wrung out the laundry best of all samsung washing machine, but not about her now. The Bosch machine coped with the spin cycle worst of all, since the percentage of residual moisture was 56%, while in the LG washing machine it was 44%. So, the result is clear: the LG washing machine beat the Bosch washing machine in this experiment. Moreover, she also turned out to be the quietest.
Compare appearance and price
As for the appearance of washing machines, it is impossible to say which is better; this is everyone’s subjective opinion. We note that Bosch washing machines are currently on sale in white, silver and black. LG washing machines are only available in white and silver, although not so long ago there were also red models.
And finally, let's compare washing machines by price. Until recently, it was possible to say with confidence that Bosch washing machines are much more expensive than LG machines. When the production of both machines was opened in Russia, the price of most models fell, and if it differed, then only slightly. Those washing machines that are supplied from abroad have not fallen in price, but have, on the contrary, increased with the rise of the dollar, so they are worth talking about separately.
Here is a comparison table of washing machines from different price categories.
Note! Most Bosch washing machines have complete protection against leaks, that is, they have the Aquastop system. But in LG machines, even expensive ones, the protection is only partial, and this is a minus of this brand’s equipment.
Summarize
So, it’s quite difficult to say which washing machine is better from the two brands we reviewed. If we compare Russian-assembled washing machines of a low price category, then the choice is richer among LG machines. However, most indicators and characteristics indicate that the Bosch washing machine is still better. As for the quality of washing, we would not rely 100% on the experiment described above. The fact is that a German-assembled model can perform in this test completely differently than a Russian one.
In our opinion, among inexpensive washing machines within $250, you can choose a machine from LG, especially since there is so much to choose from. But if money is not an issue, then it is better to give preference to a German-made washing machine rather than a Chinese one. However, the choice is yours, happy shopping!
I'm choosing a washing machine between Bosch and LG. I think I've already decided on Bosch. But then I read that its weak point is the control unit. Now I'm starting to lean towards LG. I can't afford a German assembly. Thanks for the insightful article!
LG also has built-in ones. People remove the top cover and install it, I saw on one site it says: The height for embedding LG is 82 cm. This height is also without the top cover.
I will say, after using Bosch and Samsung. Definitely Bosch.
I spent a long time choosing my washing machine. I settled on two options: Bosch wln24261oe and LG F12U2HDN0. As the article advises, I relied on a German brand. I regretted it almost immediately after buying Bosch. The display burned disgustingly and when washing above 30 degrees, condensation began to flow from the powder tray. In general, I barely managed to get the service to write off the washing machine as a defect. One of these days I'm going to make an exchange. I don’t even want to look at Bosh after all the ordeals with her.I plan to take the LG that I originally wanted. I am very disappointed with the Bosch machine. The washing quality is normal, by the way. I didn’t really like the spin cycle - the laundry was terribly wrinkled. And when he squeezes out, he shakes terribly. Very noisy during the spin cycle. Well, now let's see how LG performs.
Frankly speaking, if you compare in terms of work, then everything is simpler and more reliable with the German manufacturer. My relatives have LG. They refused to repair it because it was too expensive. And I replaced the belt myself with Bosch. And she is again ready to serve for at least five years, just as she served the last one. But direct drive is a different story.
We have been using an LG washing machine for 10 years. We renovated the bathroom and decided to replace it with a new one. And again on LG. Household appliances of this brand are of the highest quality and do not require repair for a long time.
Bosch is much better than LG. I've been using Bosch for 10 years after it was no longer usable. Everyone recommended LG. I really regret purchasing it. The difference is huge.
