Child lock on Electrolux washing machine
If on vertical Electrolux washing machines the dashboard located on top is inaccessible to children, then on front washing machines everything is different. The buttons and lights located in front attract children, which often results in hooliganism - kids start pressing everything. A special function that blocks the “tidy” from accidental and “comic” key presses becomes a salvation.
After activating the child lock on the Electrolux washing machine, the system no longer responds to pressing buttons or rotating the toggle switch. All that remains is to figure out how to use the function: launch and cancel.
Protecting the control panel from children
It is highly not recommended to press buttons on the dashboard after starting the cycle, especially for children. Firstly, you can significantly change the mode parameters, greatly increase the temperature or spin speed, which will have a bad effect on the quality of the wash. Secondly, sharp pressing of the buttons will have a negative impact on the control board: it will not have time to cope with the volume of new information and will generate an error.
Not only children can cause a crash or reset. Even adults are not immune from accidentally pressing buttons: the sensitive sensor often triggers even with indirect touch. Therefore, it is recommended to enable a special protective function - dashboard locking.
When the lock is activated, the system stops responding to user commands. You can only turn the washing machine on or off via the power button - the other keys and toggle switches remain inactive. This way, children will not harm the machine: the board will not notice their intrusion.
The child lock is turned on simply.First you need to look at the “tidy” and find the buttons responsible for activating the function. They stand out in pairs and are accompanied by a special icon - a lock. As a rule, we are talking about the “Pre-wash” and “Easy Iron” keys. Next we proceed like this:
- simultaneously press the buttons;
- hold them for 5-10 seconds;
- Make sure the “lock” lights up on the display.
To disable protection, proceed in the same way. We press the same keys and wait until the lock image on the display goes out. If the function is not deactivated at the end of the cycle, it will start automatically.
How to use an Electrolux machine?
Modern Electrolux washing machines start up and are used like most automatic machines. Dirty laundry is loaded into the drum, detergent is added to the dispenser, and then the appropriate mode is selected and the wash begins. Let's look at each stage in more detail.
- Loading the machine. The hatch opens by pressing the handle. Afterwards, the laundry is placed in the drum, pre-sorted by color and type of fabric. Each item is inspected for any debris left in pockets, and ideally, it is turned inside out and shaken. Then the door closes until it clicks.
- Adding powder. The tray extends all the way, and detergent is poured or poured into the desired compartment. If desired, add conditioner or rinse aid to the cuvette with a flower icon.
- Selecting a program. The programmer - a special wheel - selects the appropriate washing mode. If the Electrolux has a display, it will display the specified cycle settings: temperature, spin speed and duration. The last parameters can be adjusted by clicking on the corresponding buttons.
- Start the cycle.Click on “Start/Pause” and launch the program. The green indicator on the display should stop flashing and the timer should activate reverse.
- Activation of protection. After starting the wash, the child lock is activated according to the instructions described above.
- End of the program. Once the cycle is complete, “00:00” will flash on the screen and the washer will emit a short beep.
- Drain. If the program does not provide for automatic pumping of water from the tank, then it is launched separately. The toggle switch is moved to the “Off” position, and then turns to “Drain” or “Spin”. Then the start key is pressed.
- Unloading the drum. At the end of the program, you should wait 2-3 minutes for the system to remove the electronic lock from the hatch. Afterwards, all you have to do is open the door and remove clean laundry from the drum. Be sure to rotate the cylinder to make sure nothing is forgotten.
- Turning off the machine. Disconnect the empty washing machine from the power supply and water supply. It is better to leave the hatch door and the powder receptacle open for drying.
After use, it is recommended to let Electrolux dry - stand for 20-60 minutes with the hatch open and the powder receptacle open.
You can change the cycle settings after the wash has started. To do this, press “Start/Pause”, turn the program selector to the “Off” position and wait a few minutes. The system will stop and reset the previous settings. Afterwards, another mode is selected and the machine starts again.
If you urgently need to open the door, then one pause is not enough. After stopping the cycle, you will have to wait until the lock indicator goes out. It is also important to make sure that there is little water in the tank and the heating element has not had time to heat up. Otherwise, for safety reasons, the machine will not open - you will have to finish the started wash first.
Ideally, before starting Electrolux for the first time, you should carefully read the operating instructions for the equipment. There is a description of all the buttons on the device, a description of the functions and modes. The instructions also provide error codes that the diagnostic system displays on the screen in the event of a breakdown or failure.
Programs from the "arsenal" of the Electrolux machine
Modern washing machines make life easier by offering ready-made washing programs. Each machine has a basic set of modes designed for specific temperatures, duration and spin speed. The user can only select the appropriate button and make minimal adjustments.
A complete list of programs provided on the washing machine is given in the instructions. You can also guess the purpose of Electrolux modes by the name and icon on the dashboard. As a rule, each model is equipped with a certain “basic set”.
- "40'40°". An accelerated cycle that lasts only 40 minutes. At the same time, the water in the tank heats up to 40 degrees.
- "Delicate." Gentle washing is achieved due to the increased volume of water, smooth rotation of the drum, minimal spin and low temperature.
- "Children's room." The feature of the program is several rinse cycles, thanks to which the detergent is better washed out of the fabric fibers.
- "Dark fabrics" With this mode, laundry is washed in a large volume of water and at low temperatures. Special gel detergents increase the efficiency of washing.
- "Wool". The program prevents woolen items from shrinking and pilling from appearing on the fabric.
With the “40’40°” program, clothes are washed in 40 minutes.
- "Handwash". Selected for delicate fabrics, which eliminates deformation and stretching of the fabric.
- "Fitness". Designed for washing sportswear and shoes. The mode lasts about an hour, the water heats up to 40 degrees.
- "Pooh." Special care for items with down filling. The washer washes gently, kills mites and prevents clumping.
- "Shirts." Problem areas are washed away from yellowness and odor, while the item is smoothed out from wrinkles and creases.
Most Electrolux models also have a self-cleaning function. When activated, the system starts a two-hour cycle for a comprehensive cleaning of the machine, washing the drum, hoses, drain filter and other elements from scale, deposits and accumulated dirt. The user only needs to press a button: no detergent needs to be added. You cannot load laundry - the wash must be done cold.
