How to translate “Ammorbidente” on a washing machine
Most Italian washing machines are extremely easy to operate due to the fact that they use regular icons to indicate programs. Having seen the “Hand Wash” symbol, it will not be difficult for the user to figure out when to use this mode. However, not every model has such capabilities. Some of them have a minimal number of icons, and the remaining modes are indicated by inscriptions in Italian, which are completely incomprehensible to our compatriots. For example, Ammorbidente. A beautiful word, but what does it mean?
What is Ammorbidente?
If we use the Yandex translator, we will get a result that seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the washing machine. But in reality we are talking about the “Delicate Mode”.
What is delicate wash? This is a special mode that allows you to increase the service life of things that require careful handling. It is characterized by a reduced speed, increased water level, and does not use a centrifuge spin.
Everything seems simple and clear, but there are several nuances. Depending on who the manufacturer of the equipment is, the concept of “delicate washing” can be interpreted differently. In some cases, it may only provide for careful treatment of silk and wool, in others - for cotton products.
In order to avoid mistakes and not be upset later about losing your favorite things, you need to carefully read the instructions. But if it is not attached in Russian, then a high-quality translation from Italian will be required.Most often, the delicate wash mode requires certain parameters:
- temperature should not exceed 40℃;
- Spin is completely absent or limited to 400 rpm;
- the drum rotates slowly;
- significantly more water is collected compared to other modes.
What other words will you encounter?
We have already figured out the translation of the Italian term “Ammorbidente”, but in order to fully use non-Russian technology, the ability to find one mode is, of course, not enough. It would be a good idea to study how other inscriptions will be translated into Russian.
- Marchia/Arresto - turn on/off;
- Ammollo - soaking mode;
- Asciugatura - drying (if such a function is provided in the model);
- Base - a set of basic programs;
- Centrifuga - spin mode;
- Esclusione - cancels the previously selected program;
- Stira meno or Facile stiratura - performing light ironing, in which things do not wrinkle;
- Forte lavaggio - intensive wash;
- Giri - function for selecting the number of revolutions;
- Lavaggio a mano - work in hand wash mode;
- Delicato - delicate wash mode;
- Lavaggio rapido - washing according to a shortened program, express wash;
- Pre-lavaggio - soaking before washing;
- Ritardatore di partenza - starting the machine with a delay
- Speciale - special, special mode.
It is advisable to remember not only the name of the modes, but also the names of the various fabrics. The reason is that such information is often written on the front panel of washing machines imported from Italy. We present some of them:
- cotone - cotton;
- lana - wool;
- sintetico - synthetic fabric;
- seta - silk;
- roba colorata – colored things;
- cose scure - dark-colored products;
- delicato tessuto – products that require careful handling;
- resistente tessuto - durable material;
- camicia - shirt.
Note! If you haven’t figured out the labels yet, you can navigate by the icons on the control panel. In most cases they are intuitive and easy to remember.
For those who often use different options, but are not able to remember all the modes in a foreign language, it is advisable to print out the above lists and attach it in close proximity to the machine. You can also sign the buttons in Russian.
Thank you. Useful
