Why aquastop in a washing machine?
Washing machines are constantly being improved, and manufacturers are constantly adding new functions, and therefore the cost of washing machines is increasing. Many users believe that most of these innovations, for example, the AquaStop function in a washing machine, are practically useless and only serve as an excuse for another price increase. Let's figure out whether this is really so, or whether aquastop still has certain advantages.
Purpose of aquastop
The simple and easy-to-remember word “Aquastop” is usually used to describe a complex leakage protection system built into the body of the washing machine (on the tray and on the inlet hose). If any element inside the washing machine begins to leak (say, a tank, pipe, pump, powder receiver, etc.), then the sensor in the pan will instantly give the command to turn off the water. The sensor in the inlet hose is triggered if a rupture has already occurred inside the hose itself, and the water is also instantly shut off.
In fact, do not underestimate the importance and usefulness of the Aquastop function. After all, there are often situations when people flooded their neighbors, and then they had to not only re-floor the floor in their apartment, but also actually make major repairs to complete strangers. Still, the option of paying a little more for a machine with a leak protection system and quietly leaving the SM unattended, without worrying about a flood, looks more attractive.
What are the types of protective systems?
As mentioned above, most water protection mechanisms are located inside the tank, but this is still a generalization. Some protective systems are located outside the tank. Protection against leaks can be very different.
- Semi-automatic mechanism.
- Float with relay.
- Water Block System.
- Electromagnetic faucet.
- A set of protective mechanisms with indication.
Read about each option separately and decide which is best for you and whether you actually need an aquastop. The type of protection you ultimately choose depends on many factors, including the features of the machine itself, the conditions of the local waterway, and your personal views.
Let's at least protect the hose
Of course, if the machine was not initially equipped with the Aquastop system, it is almost impossible to install the sensor into the pan yourself, but it is quite possible to secure the inlet hose with your own hands.
Important! It is a broken hose that in more than 75% of cases is the cause of floods caused by a washing machine.
The algorithm of actions is as follows:
- disconnect the unit from communications;
- disconnect the inlet hose. You may have to change the O-rings on it and at the same time thoroughly rinse the coarse filters;
- Install the sensor on the water supply tap, turning the device clockwise;
- connect the inlet hose to the aquastop.
Test your work before running a full wash. Let the water flow into the hose with a weak stream in order to immediately detect and eliminate any malfunctions.
